Relocation and medical benefits options

Ok if a person decides to long commute or just move to Dallas and leave the family in another region and split time, how will that impact what medical plan options your family back home has?

Right now a person in missouri or illinois would get an option of blue cross blue shield Illinois for the high deductible option. I assume that would not be available to choose with someone working in Dallas

A lot of folks are a few years to pension or retirement and may try this for a few years and not uproot the whole family. Just wondering how the medical choices are impacted in this situation

You should look into commuting daily using the corporate jet.

T is self insured. BCBS just administers the plan as a single point of contact for medical providers and the insured.

This applies to existing employees with kids in college too. Call benefits center and ask. Moving is a qualifying event to change coverage if you find something else works better.

I don’t have an answer for you but I’m very sorry you’re even in this predicament. It’s ridiculous.

BCBS of IL is also the main PPO option for Dallas employees.

This must already be something they deal with for parents who cover children that live in other states.

What a millennial thing to ask. If you’re going to Dallas, just ‘injure’ yourself in the stairwell in week 1 and attend workers comp therapy weekly sessions FOR FREE. I get 3 days a week of half days to get to rehab and it’s all covered by AT&T workers comp.
