Will I be terminated immediately if I give two weeks notice?

It depends.

You are most likely to be walked out if you resign and Cisco thinks or knows that you are going to a competitor.

@1grh+1vI2iSCl, I know we don’t LR contractors. I made a comparison as to the difference in how blue vs. red are treated when terminated.

We don’t LR contractors. They are not employees.

@sxu+1vI2iSCl, that’s not the only reason.

Anyone w/ Admin/root/sudo permissions to servers, apps, etc. can, & usually are, walked out the door immediately.

Four or five yrs ago, a teammate gave his 2 weeks notice & our manager had two of us immediately join the Webex session & revoke all his accounts & change every admin account password he had access to, as well as create local accounts on the systems for ourselves that matched his permissions.

Once we documented his accesses, had our replacement accounts in place, & local admin passwords changed, he was free to clean any personal files off his laptop & request a shipping return label. He was done & paid for the rest of the day & for the duration of his 2 weeks notice.

But our contractors OTOH don’t get any notice. We disable their accounts, disable their VPN access, make their AD account in-active & lock them out of their laptop. Then we call them to tell them they’re done & they need to return the laptop to their recruiter immediately. They get sc--wed.

Only if you're going to a competitor.

Biggest factor is where you are going. If it’s to a competitor you will be walked immediately.

It depends on your job, how they feel about you and the manager.

If you’re at a point of giving two weeks notice, it shouldn’t matter and you should be prepared for anything regardless. Congratulations and enjoy your last two weeks.

Not necessarily, it really depends on the manager. Sometimes they don't need you to continue working, sometimes if you're going to a competitor they don't want you to keep working, but I've seen people continue to work for the 2 weeks notice regardless
