Aftermath of selections guilt

For those who make it, is there any guilt seeing your friends left standing or let go? Some are very good, I know this is a survival matter, but how do you deal with it that some really good people did not make it?

@snb+16ZaOpOZ: Well said; my only difference with your sentiments is that the executive management that got us into this mess and who should be overwhelmed with sinful guilt are those that have retired; namely George Kirkland and his boy John Watson.

Fact : at least 10% of CEO's and executives are sociopaths they don't have feeling. some say it helps to do the job! Just look at our Presentation classic example.

Hahahahahah I laugh because you are genuinely feeling pity for them. EOI is a blessing in disguise. If you saved dilligently and picked a high quality spouse, then you wouldn't be one of the fools staying forever working until 65 or bragging about their 40 years of service.

Guilt should not play a part in this effort if executed earnestly. Guilt should not be present within those who were selected, they put their name in the hat like everyone else, they were chosen to stay.
Nor those who made the decision who was left standing, they were tasked with making choices among employees as to who can best fill the role. This is business and choices come with that activity on both sides. Good people or under performers the like, staff has to be reduced.

Now, executives making multiple millions each year while laying off thousands, maybe they should feel a bit guilty about their own compensation. Under performing leadership who cost the company billions with flawed project execution, lack of competent oversight and bad business decisions, yes there should be some guilt there too. Do I think they feel guilty, no I do not.
