@rp They take the RMSA away when they lay you off before age 55. I was part of the massive layoff in 2023. I was 49 at the time and had $26K in RMSA benefits accumulated over 26 years that suddenly disappeared with a MS Teams call with 10 of my peers. Didn’t even bother to tell me in person in a private call.

@s7
I thought anyone hired after 2010 this benefit doesn't apply.

Before RMSA, any and all retirees regardless of age were handed a blanket health insurance policy. Nice benefit. RMSA is a pot of money that helps pay for pre Medicare insurance as well as post Medicare supplemental insurance and other expenses. It’s better than a sharp stick in the eye. So far, they are continuing to fund RMSA yearly with a nominal amount that mostly offsets your Medicare Part B.

@qz
RMSA- retiree medical savings account..pre 2010.
Started when you turned 40. Its to help with insurance premiums.

Retirees get medical benefits? Can you please explain what that is? Seriously asking.

@hs The Peanuts/3M memes for that were classic!

Kids: Trick-or-treat!
Violet: Gee, I got a candy bar!
Patty: Boy, I got three cookies!
Lucy: Hey, I got a package of gum!
Charlie Brown: I got a rock.

Over the course of a career, 3M will take away medical benefits from retirees, office privacy in favor of open cubes, stock options from productive employees, promotion opportunities via flattening organization and restrictive ratings processes, management opportunities via span of control guidelines, and past compensation by driving the stock into the ground. Basically, you end up with a bag of rocks.
