Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

You love to see it

After the bloodbath earlier this year where Medtronic showed so many talented people the door, or drove many long timers to retire, its been heartwarming to see so many of those former colleauges posting on Linkedin as they land new roles - and good roles -at good companies. Just goes to show that the problem isn't you, its the company and its senior leadership. You didn't do anything wrong except chose to work at a badly managed company!

If you've been victim of the Medtronic RIF this year, remember you have a lot to offer and there are companies that are eager to see your resume. Also dont be afraid or embarrased to lean on your network of current and especially former Medtronic - love to help people thrive in the life after Medtronic phase.

Do you think she cares?m about that? She along with Omar are the ones who originally created the mess we are in right now. All the quality issues came up from that time.

Allergen is owned by Abbieve. Going from CFO to a lower role in a subsidiary would be a huge embarrassment to someone like KP.

Maybe brush up your ability to type legible sentences and spell words correctly so we can understand wtf you're trying to say?

And what daft id--t thinks Medtronic has 1600 openings lmao. They are in the middle of RIFs right now and will be for the foreseeable future considering Q2 has been horrible.

No one is hiring as much as Medtronic right now and situation is very bleak in other companies, that’s a fact. hiring has tricked down in the MN area. Just look at the stocks of other MN companies like 3M and Target if you don’t believe me . Interest rates are almost at 6% and will stay there until the recession hits early next year and Fed is forced to lower rates.

Hate medtronic all you want, but we have over 1600 job openings right now

Curious where these people are finding jobs? My casual survey of the twin cities job openings is pretty grim. Anecdotally it seems like all the big guys have battened down the hatches. Boston Scientific, 3M, Target, General Mills, Cargill, etc seem to have very few openings posted as I’ve seen historically.

I’ve also seen quite a few peers impacted by the 3M/Seagate bloodlettings still with ‘Open to Work’ on their LinkedIn profiles.

Asking for a friend…I swear.

My niece's husband has a background in clinical data management and has been working for several years now since he graduated from college. He knew I worked at Medtronic but never asked me anything about the company. This was when I was still partly proud to work there instead of being embarassed. When I asked him whether he had ever applied for a job at mdt he laughed and said "I've heard so many bad things about that company. No one in my field would work there unless they were desperate". So read that HR!

The current CIO is hired to outsource everything in IT to India. The company is sinking fast.

It su-ks. But at this point no one should be surprised by a layoff. They have been happening every year now for the last 7 years. I have been in Medtronic fo 5 years, and I was in a group where we had a layoff every year since 2018 until 2023 when it finally got dissolved..

Keep your resume updated at all times, and be ready to interview always.

It's so sad to see that Medtronic used to be THE place to work at. The goal of short term profits by RIF should be a warning to other companies.
