Are PLs evaluated on their glint scores? Do the glint scores matter in reviews?

I’m also in organization with glint score in the OKR. Says a lot when all they want is “scores”.

For dictators, I mean directors, an OKR solves everything.

Our organization had OKR: high glint scores. Problem solved!

You are 100% correct AP “If you’re scored poorly and liked it is dismissed as an employee problem or reflection on the company.” I have seen it first hand as a former Director; there were Directors and Managers who did not score well but were well liked, but we knew they were useless tools and just drank the toxic kool aid it was definitely an issue with disengaged employees. Directors or managers who were liked by the employees not the officers favorites who did well with Glint did not receive any recognition. It is a tool that is used by the officers to reward and punish as they see fit.

Glint scores matter about as much as how many send words you receive.

As a recently departed MD that had above average Glint scores for my team, I did get recognition at review time for good scores. Most of the time I was there, my boss's scores were not good and I helped raise his overall as my teams scores were roughly 20 points higher than any of his other reports. I'm not aware of anyone ever getting criticized for lousy Glint scores.

Most dictators, I mean directors, are not held accountable to low glint scores.

I was there 8 years as a PL at the Director level, and what you said below was exactly my opinion on Glint as well.

Yes, but not in the way you might think.

If you’re scored poorly and liked it is dismissed as an employee problem or reflection on the company.

If you are scored poorly and disliked it is ammo against you.

And the same in reverse. Good score and disliked? Irrelevant data.

Glint is a manipulative money launderer. The questions are framed to allow for interpretation. Anonymity is laughable. And improvement only results from things someone wanted to begin with.

I suggest to my team that they not participate. A few don’t. One former employee took every advantage to tell the company what they thought in Glint and other feedback. I couldn’t save them last year. They weren’t wrong. But you can’t convince perfect they aren’t.

Yes most directors hold the overall engagement number that we all see to them at end of year review time. No matter if they are the best manager we’ve ever had or not… Even if the skip level where you give amazing feedback if the score is low it’s 100% on the manager and impacts their bonus
Same thing in reverse if they are the worst manager in the world and you score high, they are ranked above a good leader who has a lower score.
