DPTW at Avaya (Fact or Fiction)

A destination employer company is:

  1. Seen by both current and future employees as the iconic employer to establish and grow a career.
  2. The type of company that candidates have difficulties getting into.
  3. Well-known in the community as a desirable place to work.
  4. A place current employees consider their home-away-from-home.

Masarek's version of DPTW

  1. Avaya is a destination place to work because I said it is.
  2. Well-known in the community.
  3. Truth, bonuses, raises, and careers are as elusive as unicorns.
  4. If you keep trying you might catch a unicorn, think positive.
  5. The type of company that candidates have difficulties staying at.

When i was working there, people were just bummin around and refused to lift a finger if problems arise. DPTW indeed for these types.

The majority of "survivors" are those who lack critical thinking, which also leads to why Avaya is always stagnet. They only care about status quo and saying anything to keep the paycheck.

It's beyond remarkable that those same people are still playing the same game. That's why it was impossible to feel bad for the likes of batman. He acted like he was lied to. No batman. All the facts were always right in front of your face. No cape needed to see it. You only opened your eyes once leadership finally addressed that you were never qualified to be the face of the organization.

Obviously, I'm all for tough love.
But not just for the Ego do the latest leader. Losing revenue in key global markets is not something we can survive.

Why don't you

  1. leave for a DPTW or
  2. help us make Avaya a DPTW.

I know people that would love to have my job. If there were openings i would recommend this job to my friends. Is it a job for life? NO
Learn as much as possible and always be looking for a better position.

In his own bubble it is a DTPW. AM and his wife get to globe trot, at the companies expense. It get millions in cash for being a figure head. He gets to provide high paying, low stress jobs for his mates. He outsourced all the stressful stuff to Apollo and Bain.

Where else would he be tolerated in such a fashion? He keeps the Analysis and attention on himself, whilst the hatchet team do their work in the shadows.

His hands are clean.
