You absolutely got that 1000% right. In fact this almost sets up poorly for those with a pension who don't get the boot and no chance at a severance. Based on what you're saying, those will really be the ones left holding the bag. Many of us who continue to work will be taking a massive pay cut, unless they totally freeze the pension and are generous in the GRP to FRP conversion - highly doubt that.
I know a guy who started working at Fords in the early 70s...he retired at ++30 some years and then came right back as a contractor, got let go and went to Chrysler, got let go and came back to Fords again as a contractor.. When he goes I will go.... Greatest guy you will ever meet, always willing to chip in and help... He could almost have grandchildren working with him.
Either way it will be a race to the end. There are a bunch of us going but nobody is showing their poker hands. Wait till late September and see the real lump sum numbers and then the flood gates will open.
That lump Sum money is before taxes so it will be more than a couple years to break even if you plan to work.
My prediction.
More under the radar agency cuts this week.
More LL “retirements” announced.
Prep work for FTE cuts next week.
Lol not the case next week as multiple threads are predicting. Usually this board is nothingburgers, but with multiple posters indicating next week for the bad news bears, especially if you have an all-hands scheduled, enjoy the ignorance this week.
What is your purpose?
Good. Stop posting here and go work this week instead.
They'll want to torture us much longer than that.
