Who Has the Workers Back?

September 20, 2024
With the Teamsters President, Sean O'Brian in the news lately and in the recent past (RNC Convention Speech), he has one consistent message that is, "protection of the worker." So who protects the exempt employees. I gave up representation by the Communication Workers of America (CWA) when I was promoted from a Technician to a Field Services Manager. I had no regrets until recently when Private Equity Partners began their quest to takeover the world, as many of us former Avaya employees can testify. Cash rich Private Equity Partners buy the future of hard working career employees and are quick to take away jobs for any reason, including their own mis-management.

I fear our legislators who first gave us "Employment at Will," are now influenced by the millions and millions of dollars Private Equity Partners have available to them to influence politicians and prevent any legislation that would impede their "well oiled" termination machine executed by Managers we once considered friends and who may well be on the chopping block themselves very soon.

It's clear to me the Government is not going to protect workers any time soon. I believe it is now time to call in the Teamsters, CWA or other Unions to organize IT workers to protect our future. Companies that tread on the rights of their workers and terminate long term career employees without notice or explanation, such as Avaya are low hanging fruit and will be dragged in kicking screaming into collective bargaining.

Those put in charge know exactly what to do with the company.

Cut, cut and cut again until what's left is "lean" enough to be bought out by 1 or 2 companies.

Anyone who can't see that coming needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Yea…all that time spent roaring back. All that transformation. No-one knows what to do with the company anymore. All people who are leading have no idea what Avaya was or is. On Autopilot until…….

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to decipher the snail pace we are at in bringing something to market. AM mentioning it or not, it’s fact.

Can’t believe you’d even listen to anything Alan says after all the lies he thrown at you over the last two years.

Is this post supposed to be satire? All the extra work, slow down… we’ve been moving at snail pace already. Even in sales, doing all these things new leaders and consultants throw at us - take that away and direct revenue impacts are not there. So what extra work constitutes a slow down? What planet are you on OP?

Even AM mentioned on an all hands that we are walking slow now to run fast later. HOW MUCH MORE SLOW DO YOU WANT?

Sorry for yelling, haven’t had my coffee and this post is annoying.
