Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Check if Ray's pants are on fire...

Not more than 2 weeks ago, Ray G. Said at the town hall that they chose to cut benefits, bonus, merit and 401k rather than lay off more people. Well, today they are chopping heads in IT. You want to save a bunch of money on IT, dump CORE POS already.

Townhall also stated no layoffs! Can't believe executives any more!

They are certainly laying off employees to get to a bonus but probably won't be enough. Sell your future for short term success.

I would love to know where you people are getting that bonuses were cut. Forgive me for being at all optimistic but the town hall stated bonuses are intact.

The EEOC and the labor board doesn't care. If the didn't grab your, uh- em, ahem, I can't bring myself to use president elect type language here. You get the point. If you weren't grabbed and threatened, and their isn't a smoking gun memo or email, they won't take the case. The best they'll do is tell you you have the right to bring a case to court.

My guess is, since most of these are shared services people, they were considered redundant and that's why they were let go.

Ray G has zero integrity. Leadership 101-people make the difference.

As always in these situations, Follett lost some talented people who were key contributors over the past twenty years. Does anyone know how employees are picked for termination? #FollettWins

There are deep cuts folks with the bulk still to come prior to March 31. Today's were just a small percentage of what is planned in total. Prepare yourself. Batten down the hatches team, this is going to be the worse yet. #Follett Wins

We are the witnesses of a very big company crumbling right in front of our eyes. This is what a few really bad decisions can do to a multi-million dollar company. And now it seems it snowballed at the speed it can't be stopped. And it's extremely dangerous environment right now because no one feels safe or motivated.

Laying off employees only to hire a new employee shortly after is discrimination, the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or s-x. The EEOC should be undertaking an investigation of this ongoing discrimination.

ha. I was laid off days after being told that our head count would be stable for the next year. Six months later they hired an out of state (Indian) consultant for my position. I kind of wonder if he was an H1B employee. Other laid off positions were also advertised although I don't know about who was hired.

I don't get how they can hire people in one dept and within the same week lay people off.

Wow! Took him about 2 weeks to prove what a sleazeball he is. Time to find a new job before the next round starts.

Look on the bright side. At least RG and his team will be successful by hitting there numbers!!!! So said this success as to come at the expense of employees instead of from vision, business evolution, growth...you know, the things true leaders measure success by.

Probably an alternative money saver since they cant cut the store managers pay since that new law has been retracted. Either way its disappointing and BS.

The integrity of the Follett Executive suite was already hovering just above ZERO. It is now officially gone. How can a leadership group be trusted in anyway shape or form when they said no layoffs are planned and just barely 2 weeks later poof layoffs. So either they were truly unplanned and just a spontaneous necessity which I doubt because planning severance, etc takes bit of time to set up or they lied. Considering the track record I'm feeling confident with believing in the latter. Liar Liar pants on Fire. F*+K You Ray and all your Merry men.
