In one hand oracle removed so many qualified guys, other hand it is recruiting new guys. Oracle should have relocated old guys to new postition first and train them. This is huge discrimination. Old guys have been inflicted with knife. U post mass petition to president and bring law suit against discrimination. Until law decides warn not to be effected.

This is all about cost cuts. They will find the cheapest labor to do the work.
Yep, stupid is as stupid does, and it doesn't get more stupid than MH, but hey, he's raking it in so what's there to worry about!

when you factor in all of the money oracle pisses away on training, lodging, food, computers, materials, etc for bringing on the new employee (with a signing bonus!!), the new employee is NOT cheaper than the old one
also keep in mind 75% leave within one year :)
New employees are cheaper than older employees. It's economics.
PRobably not the only company that does this, but Oracle is genius at shifting jobs offshore without attracting attention. They do this exactly how described: attrition or layoff high dollar US workers, and hire at their location in India, China, Romania, and until recently Chile.
Just think about that the next time a company doesn't want to train you because you will leave and go elsewhere. Just think about that the next time a company wants you to come into a new org and situation with fully formed training and experience gained on your own time and with your own money.
You can only hope there is a special section of He|| reserved for the CEOs and others who do this evil. And don't tell me it is about lifting people in other countries out of poverty and all that. It. Is. About. Money.

My team really wanted some of the Solaris engineers that were let go. Great experienced engineers with just the skills we need right here on the same campus! But we were told we still can only do new hires in India. Make no mistake, this is offshoring of jobs, not simply responding to market forces.
