What we all really need is another motivational speech from RD. You know, one of those truly moving diatribes about what inspires him (where he walks around, gesturing and gesticulating like Tony Robbins - meaningful pauses and all). We need to hear more about “inspiring play” and the “wonder of childhood”. Do you think we can pry him away from the JJs and Greta’s and Margots of Hollywood long enough to motivate us to embrace this new, “Do More With Less” Growth Mode?

Thank COVID for stabilizing Mattel for two years. It's not due to Ynon, nor the skeleton crew of employees that remains. The years and talent that built FP, Barbie and Hot Wheels and made Mattel so great are long gone. The sheer momentum of those brand names will carry them on for many more years, but the glory days are behind us. It makes me sad that all the creative people have scattered to other companies. It's better for those companies but devastating for Mattel.
Ynon may end up being good for Mattel, even for all his movie BS. But what baffles me is that RD is still there. He is a credit-grabbing loudmouth who blows smoke up his own arrrrrse. Watching wild-eyed RD speak as the frontman for Mattel is like nails on a chalkboard. Here he talks about Bad Robot as if he did it himself and pioneered posable figures.
