CUSTOMER-CENTRIC SCHEDULING AND PLUMBING SPECIALISTS

In my store there is one Plumbing Specialist and one Plumbing Pro. Under the new scheduling the Pro gets all of the openings, and no closings ; which leaves the Specialist working only mids and closings. The only time the Specialist get an opening shift is if the Pro is scheduled off. This month ,the Pro has 21 days opening and he also gets 2 days in a row off some weeks. recently he had a Friday-Saturday-Sunday off. Meanwhile the Specialist gets 7 workdays a month to have dinner with his family.

Dear Electrical Pro Here,
I retired from the company having that same position my entire time with them, so I can relate what you are talking about. Up until my last store I basically did the same thing's you spoke of, at my last store there way too many politician's involved, there were always what I call power struggles going on that affected basically everyone that worked there in some way. Of course that was even before everything started going more downhill like today, thank goodness different store's still try and do things right.

I don't know who the 'wambulance' is being called for here–and I don't care. It's been used on this forum enough, leave it for Dave Ramsey to use. If people want to share their experiences at work, then what do you expect? Most work environments are demanding and difficult...or you wouldn't require regular PAYMENT to show up to your job.

Lowe's electrical Pro here with around 20 years of combined retail and mostly residential electrical experience. First started at Lowe's back in 2003 between professions as a lighting specialist so I have seen a lot and have been through a lot. Been a department manager, department supervisor, lighting specialist, pro service specialist and a part time electrical associate. Come in every day and make a difference in my store with the excellent customers, inventory prep, IRP'S, down-stocking, zone recovery, code 3's, code 50's, coming in early to help with freight, power down-stocking, helping in appliances, plumbing, walking the customers to the product or a fellow employee for a soft hand-off, walk contractors to the Pro desk to meet our Pro team, AP4ME, order product for the department, SOS orders, ICB's, blue dots program, theft prevention, sending emails to buyers about products we do not carry for our electrical professionals/contractors and pretty much anything else you can think of that our company does. Don't make the mistake of thinking all employees are created equal based on any given position. I really don't like when make blanket statements about positions within the store with little to no knowledge. Want to have a full understanding of how to work at Lowe's come to my store and I'll show you how it's done and I guarantee you don't carry the workload that I do.

Yes, what the other two said. Contractors enter the store in am to start their day. It makes sense pro staff is m-f, openers.

Specialist deal with customers, who are mainly lunch time to closing.

If you prefer the early hours better, look for pro openings. Its no picnic, and Im stressed out just trying to make numbers. I cant remember the last time I had a break or lunch.
Im run down today too, with a cold from stress. All my deliveries didnt go fri, or sat, and my cell has been banging off the hook since I punched out Friday.

Speak for your own store. Over here the pro positions in electrical and plumbing have not been filled by someone with ANY actual relevant experience for years and years. Theyre a joke.

Pros and Pro Services specialist hours are centered around contractor schedules.

Honestly, that makes sense as their jobs are different. The pro is scheduled when contractors are coming in. The specialist is scheduled when regular customers shop. That is the job. Vendors aren't even open at 6am so why should a specialist open when there are no customers and no way to follow up on orders?
