So is anyone organizing a walkout strike protest? Where would I look to find information/details?

That is the exact attitude he/she is pointing out. Stop it. Stop being mopey and placid. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop going along to get along. Your manager and other GF leaders fu---d you over. They lied to you. Misled you and manipulated you and you allowed it. You rolled over and took it and told them it’s ok to do it again. So no not a time for sympathy but a time for a wake up call. You are your own best advocate so act like it!

@1lyt I agree in principle, but think you should be more sympathetic to other people

250 or more Employees would trigger the NYS 90 day WARN Act. As of now, GF has not notified NYS, formally.

You can can keep track as to If/when this happens at this link to WARN Act Notifications.

You can also contact NYD Dept. of Labor with any questions/concerns during this process. There is advocacy available to NY residents/employees. Be sure to document ALL discussions and communications with your Management and HR department.

https://dol.ny.gov/warn-notices

Information on the specific WARN:

The WARN Act applies to private businesses with 50 or more full-time employees in New York State. It covers:

Closings affecting 25 or more employees
Mass layoffs involving 25 or more full-time employees (if the 25 or more employees make up at least 33% of all the employees at the site)
Mass layoffs involving 250 or more full-time employees
Certain other relocations and covered reductions in work hours
This means that covered businesses must provide all employees with notice 90 days prior to a:

Plant closing
Mass layoff
Relocation
Other covered reduction in work hours
Businesses that do not provide notice may be required to:

Pay back wages and benefits to employees
Pay a civil penalty
Businesses must give notice to:

All affected employees
Any employee representative(s)
The New York State Department of Labor (DOL)
The Local Workforce Development Board (LWDB)
The chief elected official of the unit or units of local government where the site of employment is located
The school district or districts where the site of employment is located
Each locality that provides police, firefighting, emergency medical or ambulance services, or other emergency services, to the locale where the site of employment is located
Early warning gives the DOL and the LWDB the chance to work with the business early on and provide employees with information about:

Unemployment Insurance (UI)
Workforce Programs
Resources designed to get employees back to work quickly
Early warning also benefits the business. It can shorten the time that employees are on UI. It therefore may lower the UI charges associated with the layoff or closing.

It is strongly encouraged that employers submit their WARN notices by email to WARN@labor.ny.gov. Notice by employers to the Department of Labor can also be mailed to:

New York State Department of Labor - WARN Unit
Building 12, Room 425
State Office Campus
Albany, New York 12226

Walkout or strike would be very effective.

But let’s be honest, we won’t do any of this. We are placid cows waiting to be lead to sl------r. Hoping if we are quiet maybe we will be spared. How many indiscretions and misdeeds have we seen and we just let it slide? It’s been decade of misdirections , manipulations and lies served to the general employee. False promises on this great potential that Globalfoundries has but never seems to pan out.

It seems now that more people have recently woken up to it or have actually become aware to what is really happening around us. But for a decade most wouldn’t even acknowledge that some things seemed a little off or odd. Sure behind closed doors tons of whispers and rumors and gossip talk, but when the rubber hits the road we all just shut up and smile and nod our heads.

So nothing will happen. Nothing will change. Just take the abuse. Take the sh-t they force us to eat and gravel and thank them for it. This why we ended up and landed here at Globalfoundries. It’s our overall demographic that stretches across all the diverse groups within Globalfoundries. Our overarching personality trait throughout the company. We are submissive and pliable. We are compliant masochistic drones. And that’s exactly what Globalfoundries wanted us to be and why they hired us. And if this offends you, I am sorry but it is the truth. I am guilty of it too.

So we will just push forward and keep our heads down and press on. Good luck to all of you all in coming days and weeks. I hope to see you on the other side. If I don’t see you have a great thanksgiving and winter holiday season.

I think the reason for layoffs is there is not enough Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

I am personally not a fan of Unions…

BUT the NYC, highly documented on social media, extravagant spend to return to a layoff announcement does not sit well.

The disconnected leadership needs a wake up event.

Sad to see how this CEO TC has changed once potential Globalfoundries to Localfoundries. He just cares for his pics in local Albany news paper. Shame on this leadership. This is rotten place. Let us strike, unionize, protest and strike whatever possible to get attention to save the jobs from this management.

Why make it difficult? It’s a horrible place already. Approach it as a blessing. Cut ties with this company

The best way forward for immediate results is strike or walk out. Call every local news station and online local reporter. Get any local political/economic twitch/youtube/facebook streamers there.

The younger people can spread the word faster and broader and local media will be get the older generation aware.

Everyone that participates needs to wear a facemask (one benefit of covid times lol) and sunglasses. You will be targeted without anonymity

@qan+1jGLdO1f

Good point media should be made aware.

Contact all those reporters who literally a week ago were praising GF earnings report
And all the journalists who 2 weeks ago wrote glowing 1 year IPO anniversary articles

And inform them that things aren’t on the up and up at Globalfoundries. Fill their inboxes with GF related grievances etc

Personally a several day walk out would be interesting. Would draw national attention as well. Get Schumer to consider how Chips Act money is spent

How would a union logistically work? It would have to be done within weeks
