Dear Gladly Leaving, I wish you well and enjoy your Retirement going forward. I came over from the T Layoff site to see if anything was different, and No, sad to say there not. The Millenials are still whining and whimpering at the Boomers to move on, until one day their time comes and it makes me smile.......because it will, no matter who they work for at the time!
As a Manager I understand the 150% ref because most don’t take their full allotment of vacation time, cancel many fridays off because the work just won’t make the ‘’target end date’’ otherwise. You’re in by 8am and leaving work by 8pm because that vital conference call reaches across huge time zones that the ‘whiners’ never know about. Being good at what you do has a reverse effect, especially on family.
The irony that you probably ‘mentor’ many of these Millenials, over the years, to eventually fill your job, has never escaped me. The ignorant perceive that your skills are 20 years out of date but will one day stroke their egos by trying to convince everyone that longevity denotes expertise and knowledge....and that part will actually be true, and you prove that point.
And $3mil in a 401K is not far fetched when you consider five stock splits since 1990, consistent dollar cost averaging into a dividend stock buying even more share of itself, and not to forget a few stock options offered along the way. And last, consider that the stock market has increased 10 fold since you began.
Wait, do you hear that Millenials? Mom just called up to your room......DINNER!
