The townhall yesterday for TPS was a little overly positive with so many people about to get cut. I would tone it down a bit. It was bothersome that it was stated that we will have a lot of jobs for people development (future leader jobs). In my download with my boss, she said those jobs are created for future leaders only (like sponsor roles). She said she would do her best to keep me appraised of those jobs so I don't waist one of my 4 post options. WORK with your boss to avoid those jobs. We have a hell of a lot of future leaders in TPS. She said in her last meeting with HR, TPS has more white female future leaders than any other part of Chevron. White female future leaders are premium candidates for jobs. The selection committee will be advised of which people are future leader. They will walk through the selection and no matter what, select the future leader just because of that designation. Look for the sh** jobs no one wants. It would be super fantastic if our TPS leaders would just manage move all of the future leaders so us grunts don't get our hopes up for good jobs that are not really in reach for us. By the way, I am a black man and I struggle everyday to prove my value only to be kicked aside for a white female future leader. And that is a fact.

@pmk: you are told directly if you are HP
How do you know if you’ve been marked as a future leader and/or high potential? What is the criteria (other than being young and female I guess)? And how do jobs marked for those people work compared to jobs that are for everyone else?
During my CVX career I went through 2 major "Rightsizing" staff cuts, and the more typical ROM (Resource Optimization Management) exercises. Finally, I got tired of it and took the EOI payoff, as did quite a few middle and older aged colleagues.
Amazingly, a few years on, all of our previously "surplus" positions have been filled with younger females. Maybe these young women are much smarter than us old farts ? Or maybe . . .
The CVX future is bright for young (presumably high potential) females. For the rest, not so much.
@cku,
The most important takeaway is please make sure you have a cover letter if you actually ever are asked to submit a TPS report.
I hear you buddy, and I’m a middle-age white man.
