Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Next round of layoffs

Any ideas on when and where we can expect the next round to happen?

Look for disappearing colleagues who have summer PTO scheduled. They will be let go right before the PTO and never return.

@3zpl+1txgk0MM 100%. My previous company layoffs were pretty common because a lot of government contract work. We had an entire division of internal recruiters. Their jobs were to find you a new job within the company before your 60 day window was up. I only knew of one person in my time there that didn't have a new job at the end. The company was about the same size as Met's US workforce so MetLife can't claim they're too big to have something like this here.

@2ank+1txgk0MM: Why don't they help the affected employee by considering him for the open positions and if deemed fit, offer him the position and avoid a lay-off?

If they do that, that would be considered as breaking silos right?

Why first layoff, stigmatize and then ask to re-apply? That is a farce.

Not to worry, AVPs are SAFE!!! They are so useful and necessary. Phew!

SVPs verbally encourage those laid off to apply to different roles in the company after they get laid off.

@pke+1txgk0MM Agree. No real info, but September and October are prime time for layoffs.

Budgeting going on now.

Let's call them what they are. They are terminations. There is no expectation of being hired back, so it's not a layoff.

Ratings season is coming up so I wouldn't be surprised to see a round at the end of Q3.

I personally think we're due one soon, but I hope I'm wrong.
