Last week I shared David Galloreese got green light to start lay offs. However yesterday Saul had to put the brakes on any big lay offs.
Here is why: Currently in California where the cuts are going to be crazy deep we are SIP by order of Gavin Newsom. Therefore returning equipment is the hold up. There are 70-80 thousand lap tops in California alone not to mention phones provided by Wells. The bank (Saul) wants all returns to be personally done. This can not be done by Fed ex because even 1 lost lap top could cost us millions. We should have all just done risk training it’s due the 21 of this month, but we aren’t taking the risk. Gavin has us 100% lock down we can’t even go out to eat yet so riding BART 45 minutes to give back equipment is not happening and thus lay offs aren’t. Gavin has said he will let big businesses know when he moves to office return to work but that is far away. Let’s say Gavin says November 1 then you would be laid off Oct 1. 30 day work as part of WARN and 30 day no work as part of WARN then severance would kick in. Hourly employees would be laid off Nov 1 they are exempt from working once laid off so all WARN notice to them is non work. They should really updated the OC meeting invite with a new number or change the day any old employee like bitter Jim Rowe, David Julian or Oscar Suris can call in and give out info like this. Just sayin....
