@pdq+1t72aMor is correct. AI's biggest impact will not be on the high end of SW engineering it will be on the low end, meaning work offshored to India. It will be like a nuclear explosion on India's economy. Suffice to say that once the true impacts happen, Modi won't be pinning any more medals on AK.
Automation is nothing new, even if that gets rebranded as "AI" to furnish fictional Wall Street valuations
Were you expecting Pearls Of Wisdom from IBV ? You're likely to be sorely disappointed if you did. They are the agents of mayhem and chaos much like McKinsey Consulting who brought the follow-the-sun methodology with Rotten Rometty and her comrade in Consulting, Gherson.
Consider the millions of people who in India who make their living through the IT industry and ask this question - what will happen to them if AI displaces them from their jobs as it is currently doing in the US and Europe? There will be social chaos /upheaval and mayhem to contend with due to major cultural change. You cannot blame the people as they have NO economic support structure as exists in the US and Europe when jobs are lost. It would be a major tragedy, as it currently in the US and Europe. Some things are best left alone for such situations. Why would you want millions to lose their livelihoods for some technology which has clearly not been thought out for all situations and countries? AI has all the potential of releasing the evils from Pandora's box in countries where many people still follow a different culture and the old way of life.
