Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

APPEARS LAYOFFS WILL AFFECT THOUSANDS

Seems like the initial comments about hundreds of layoffs is a gross understatement. Employee comments suggest most of office work force in Hoboken ( > 1000 employees) and San Francisco, either laid off or given ultimatum to move to Bentonville, Ar

Over the last 3 years twice as many people moved out of new jersey than moved in. I wonder why?

"Arkansas is not the armpit of America. In the Bentonville area it is generally clean and safe. The people around here are nice. Clean and safe are not words I would use to describe San Francisco or New Jersey."
Using the term armpit is a bit harsh but I'm sure AR is one of the states that takes in more federal tax dollars than the citizens and corporations pay in. Have you ever been to SF or NJ or do you only pay attention to what you see on TV? The bottom line is the lifestyle in AR is a lot different and asking people to move especially if their salaries aren't all that high is naive. People will relocate and then in a few years be victims of the next WM corporate restructuring and good luck finding a job in AR when that happens. You'll be moving back to a place like NJ or CA where the job market isn't structured around the ebbs and flows of one company.

Home office, market, and regional teams are BLOATED.

And who wants to live in Arkansas anyway?

I'll stay in store where it's safer long term 😉

@pdn I spent 10 years at the Walmart Home Office working in ISD. It's a sh!thole state. I've been gone for 5 years.

@ebc+16ghlUBH - If you don't like Arkansas, why don't you leave? No one wants you here anyway.

The layoffs are impacting around 2,000 people.

@hjk I guess no one taught you how to count or geography 😂😂. Hoboken isn't a state. It's a city in New Jersey.

@hjk As opposed to the sh!thole state that is Arkansas? Arkansas is the outhouse of America. Or is that the armpit of America? I can never get that straight.

I have observed the same thing. I am in Bentonville HO and most of the people I know saw their teams halved. My department was 100 and is now closer to 50. This seems much more like thousands affected. From what I hear, they are making the cuts on both ends to combine Bentonville HO and E-Commerce. Also, they are hoping the people laid off in HO will go to work in stores and Supply Chain.
