We could all say the same about you
If you quit then move in... why are you looking at this page? What a loser.

Thanks for the kind words young lady. I too was a manager once and quit for a better job with a more respected organization. If this manager is really seeking advice, then quitting was the best answer I could give him. UP is not going to get better and nothing he does will change it. His schedule will continue to s—, HR will continue to keep him short staffed. Then they’ll come by once a year and ask what they can do different.
So again, thank you for being happy for me, and I hope you have a splendid day.
A fair question deserves respect. Good question op. What can management do? You ever heard the give a mouse a cookie? I always found whether you give an inch a foot or a mile, it isn’t enough. The workforce’s voice is always the loudest whiner while the good workers don’t expect an inch, foot or mile.
What the company is doing to all it’s employees is b—s—. Yes, management has some benefits that agreement don’t. How about or family medical max out of pocket of close to 12 grand a year or the 5 grand deductible before insurance pays a dime. These are ball park figures but close. Agreement employees need to unite and demand a industry best contract. It’s your union make some noise.
So someone asks how they can improve and you tell them to quit. You deserve what you got.
Op: Quit
I have worked for the same manager for 6 years. The exchanges are always the same.....Morning/morning. My manager is so afraid for his own job, that he is almost unable to show any connection to who he sees on a daily basis. It is disheartening to know that he doesn't really care.
I do not need a pat on the back every day, but to not feel as if any of the work force is proud to be here stinks. How can I be (from the propaganda on the UP site and news screen) " A proud and engaged workforce" if we are always beat back down. I love the work I do, but things are never going to be the same. Fear makes people do things irrationally, not from a place of well thought out processes. Are direct managers ever going to get to know who is really working for them?
Eat your daily dose, enjoy your salary, and care less about agreements, rules, or federal laws.
