I saw they have removed a large chunk of regional LVS roles earlier this year. Did it cause a dent in the business results? Don't think so. This group is merely PPT experts and redundant. Now they have rebranded as BSC for those who remain.

I have confirmation that LVS groups were impacted by layoffs this week.

Whether it’s 1, 10 or 6,000 (direct reports or not) please don’t diminish the impact to those affected.

One BSC person supporting ASD (a manager without direct reports) and an MTE supporting PSD had jobs eliminated. A Director’s retirement was also announced and his replacement was named. Go look on
The BSC announcements in the former Yammer from TY.

Don't you understand. How are these highly paid Directors of Operations, CEOS, Upper management suppose to afford the best if you low tier peasants keep su-king at the TEET.

They have families too ya know. You think the shareholders love waking up every morning knowing that you guys are lowering their prices and then proceeding to whine about it.

I for one am tired of using only $20s and $50s as toilet paper. I need me some of that sweet sweet $100 3 ply.

Cuts won’t stop. Yes, they hire again, but at lower job grades or in cheap countries. Ever notice the volume of cuts over the years vs global headcount? They have no growth strategy, so cuts will always keep coming until the run out of workers to cut, then the execs will ‘pursue other opportunities’ or retire. That is the end game when 3M will finally be gone. For real workers still left, I hope it takes a while so you can land somewhere better

The company usually executes layoffs in Nov so they can clear the impacted people out after the 45 day period. This gives a clean slate for Q1 of the following year. The company gives no consideration to the holiday period or impact in families. This is heartless corporate America. Employees are simply numbers not real people.
Sadly, the corporation also wants loyal committed employees who will go above and beyond for the company. Loyalty is earned and 3M has not made any investments in this area. This explains why the real underlaying issue, organic growth, has suffered so much. The remaining employees are putting in their time working at 40-50% waiting until they can find a better opportunity elsewhere. Mr. McKnight must be shedding a tear watching this debacle.

I always expect layoffs at this point, it is what 3M does now -especially around the holidays. It can’t operate now and will get exponentially worse - dump any stock if you still own it. The company is going to break faster than ever imagined.

Why are there so many SVP and VP travels in Q4? All rushing to spend the operating expense? So that next year looks good year on year?

Layoffs quota is decided by MR, MP, and HR then it is passed to SVP/Presidents. Divisions leaders most of the time do not have option to save people, they just have to execute. Shame on BODs and 3M executives who don’t have the courage to put the face and skills to led a company.

Earlier this year they informed Employees, who have 2 weeks till their last day of access to the buildings. Then the remainder of the 45 days is paid while the employee doesn't work. After that is the official last day. This last time the warn notice was filed on that last day.

Does Tireman understand that 3M has more to its supply chain than cups, lids and coffee beans?

My thoughts, condolences and cheers to those who are affected this round. I was there last year. I feel your pain.

It's not you that is the problem, remember that. Take a moment to catch your breath and begin to process. One day at a time. Remind yourself that something better is just around the corner, you just don't know what corner it will be. Life is better on the flip side. Reach out to the 3mersunite on linkedin for support.

My theory is they aren't able to cut in other countries so more people from US have to go to hit the 6k by end of year. No new warn notices in Minnesota. But I'm really just guessing here.

This is what the Group President does, he cuts and chops. 3M is done people, whatever is left will be sold off or liquidated overtime. 3M's initiatives have been dismal and now the chickens have come home to roost. The Board of Directors have signed off on everything you are now seeing.

Seriously?! This blows my mind, in light of the ridiculous layoffs from earlier this year. Clearly those cuts didn't improve our operations, so how would additional ones be merited?

Layoffs in the Business Supply Chain Engineering area. Lots of great people with a ton of product knowledge. Makes sense when these people are working on large scale capital project where spend has already occurred and now no staff to actually deploy to see the benefits.
