You read in John’s message last week (2 months late after ruining your Christmas but a day early to sc--w your weekend) that in order to compete and win, we must fire a few people for what we now think matters most because the last thing didn’t work. To buy us time before Wall Street realizes we’ve made the brand stale, we will more sharply align our organization with our old strategy and continue the old journey we began last year. This means we’ve had to make some tough decisions and to be fair tougher for you really. The toughest part for me was filtering through the spreadsheet for the people we were firing which is why it took so long.
I know this was a difficult week across the company, and I can see your in empty eyes as you walk around WHQ that you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Saying goodbye to teammates, colleagues and friends is never easy, which is why most of you never even call them after they fail in this go around of the hunger games. Please know that we are working with all impacted individuals and legal will be supporting us to make sure they don’t sc--w us over during their transition. As of today, we’ve fired all the people who are getting fired for now and the rest of you will just have to spend Q4 worried if you’re going to be fired. I suggest holding off on booking that summer vacation.
Our teams in EMEA will be on a different timeline due to them living in a country that actually cares about workers and truthfully Mo hasn’t found a loophole like she did for the WARN act. And as for China, we can’t just fire those people, we’re not that d-mb.
Take care of yourself and we’ll come together soon and where we will give you 2 drink tickets to make this memory go away… ok maybe 3.
Best,
Soon to be former VP.
