• you will then have multiple unfulfilling short term contracting gigs
• before calling it quits and retiring

If you take the bull by the horns and find other full time employment before your early 50s, you can have a rewarding second career at your new company

Ford will never, i repeat Ford will never catch Tesla. Don't even try, admit defeat and close your doors. No one except a businees can afford an f 150 so basically the company is toast.........Since you announced your green direction its Honda, and Toyota for me, my family, friends, neighbors, and any stranger that is willing to listen to the horror stories associated with ford products. Again, just like bud lite, GO WOKE......GO BROKE.....LOL!

Tesla has one fifth of Ford's White-Collar clerks (engineers et al) and a tenth of Ford's Blue-Collar employees (non-UAW people). Tesla is nor burdened by Purchasing policies (friends and family suppliers) nor their design reviews are as cumbersome as Ford's (and Ford still has recalls due to overlooked design / mfg / a-s'y issues) Tesla does not have as many LL6 / LL5 / LL4 / Chief Eng / Directors / VP / Executive Directors as Ford's. Jimmy, Billy Boy, Kumar, Chuckie Cheese, etc. are in the same league as Musk.
No way Ford will be ever cost competitive as Tesla with all deadwood in their servant leadership ranks.
Douggie is realizing the hard way that he needs to get rid of Purchasing, PTME, VO's and at least 75% of leadership positions so EV business can at least break even.

If GM spent $1B for the buyout of 5,000 employees, then Ford is looking for a similar outcome, probably more.

Now, the company is saying 1 in 9 employees of Ford Europe are going to lose their jobs, which roughly matches the 3,800 layoffs announced earlier. Still, this number is below the 5k of GM. At the same time, Ford is announcing "changes" in India and Brazil, and concentrating engineering in America.

It would seem that no layoffs will affect the US workforce. Right? However, I don't trust the ba----ds in the C-suite. Why haven't they given the all clear? Many of my American coworkers are worried, even myself, with the prospects of more layoffs this year.

I have only done the "become a solid gsr worker" and I'm still on the outside looking in.

Farley continues to fail. He failed at Toyota/ Scion, he failed when brought in to market Ford vehicles and has destroyed what was a good company hiring unqualified fakes and rejects. Investors are well aware and the stock as well as the public's confidence continue to decline. What was disgraceful is now criminal as jobs are offshored and partnerships are made with questionable choices.

We are still hiring......and have alot of deadwood pretenders and posers..

They are being specific about Ford Blue as well and shifting more investment into the Model e money pit. But honestly we’ve cut some much staff, the business plans will have to start getting cut if they really are serious about turning around quality. Which they are not….despite the platitudes…
