Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Willowgrove PA and Media PA Sears store also accept cash only. When will this be fixed?

You were there? At Chicago Ridge? Did they say anything about why their phone doesn't work?

Chicago Ridge also made an over head announcement yesterday about being cash only.

I was at Avenel Kmart today and they made a an announcement about being cash only.

Apparently some people on here think so

Home Depot CC system went down over Memorial Day weekend. They were cash only at multiple stores. Does that mean they are closing?

I like the Elevator Guy

Surprised that the elevator guy has not chimed in here yet with a status report on the working condition of the elevators in the remaining stores.

If this is a normal occurrence why isn't there any mentioned of it on reviews until the past couple of days? I don't believe any retailer just had it's payment systems going down all day across every store. Even in this case it doesn't like like it's every store and it must be an unusual occurrence for people to go and post about it on Google.

Now reviews for the Bronx store staying the same.

Criticizing someone for a post they made on an anonymous message board equals better quality of life.

System are down, what else is new. Besides gutting IT, then gutting the IT that replaced them, then gutting the IT system that replaced that, and 30+ year old POS systems, Eddie Lampert systematically destroyed Sears' value as a business and the real estate besides. Turning gold into lead, it's a talent.

@olt+1bpCTK94 I agree. Stores taking Cash only (temporarily) really has nothing to do with them closing. Because liquidators take Credit Cards during closing. This is just due to a system glitch in those particular stores. WESTWOOD NJ was taking Cash only recently, but their manager assured me that they aren't closing, and it's just a system issue. Of course, we can take his comments with a grain of salt, but that's what he claimed. But it is interesting that WESTWOOD, KEY WEST, & WHITE PLAINS, are at least temporarily taking Cash only.

For the record, all 3 claim they are not closing as of now.

Credit/Debit card machines going down and stores having to revert to cash is a normal occasional occurrence. No conspiracy theory here.
