Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Do you expect to be laid off before the end of Q2?

I'm pretty sure I'll be notified before the end of Q2, I don't know about you. There are people who believe that this will not happen to them, at least not before the end of the quarter, but I believe noone is safe anymore. I have some weird feeling about it or maybe I’m just projecting my desire because I’d love for it to happen to me. Layoffs have become almost the best thing Xerox can give to most of its employees.

Well when your Dept is ask to sign NDL ‘s and you are told to train replacements the hand writing is on the wall. Happens to the Best as that’s how Xerox plays today.

No ones been safe in 25 yrs there. It was all who you knew. If someone liked you. How much you made, if you had something to hold over them or if your expertise was so niche that no one else in the company had it. Remember all corporations will use you until they have no need for you anymore.

For those that haven’t been growing their expertise in the decades of being there I’m sorry you didn’t play the game. I used them as much as they used me. Took every new opportunity that came my way. And when I was finished with them I moved on. I wasn’t about to let them show me the door. Never overstay your welcome.

I’m not worried. Having a huge savings account keeps the stress away. If I get walked...then so be it.

I would update your resume, save $$$, and remember to file unemployment the minute you get laid off. I filed mid March and still haven't received my unemployment pay. Another thing, be proactive not reactive. If you see a good opportunity go for it and apply. The worse that can happen is you don't get the job but start applying now. Anyone can be let go. Connecticut is an at will state for employment meaning a company can let you go for any reason.

Every employee of Xerox needs to refresh their resume. The company is hemorrhaging money. The pandemic has accelerated the paradigm shift to a paperless world. Just like Kodak missing out on the digital photography revolution, which destroyed the company, Xerox missed out on the paperless revolution. Why do you think we are trying to sell that crappy pile of junk Docushare or "financial services"? Xerox has nothing to offer! Carl and Johnny can't put enough lipstick on this pig to sell it because it's a bloated, rotting corpse.

@niu I was answering a question and did not assign blame to anyone but myself. I should have taken action years ago and it's too late for me.

It’s up to you to manage your career and subsequent skill set. Not Xerox or any other company you would work for. That’s a cop out.

@tok I can't leave because my skills are obsolete. My career is over that's for sure.

Why wait. Take control of your career and leave now. Why are you waiting and complaining?
