Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Back to the office?

Colorado and Denver are having a huge spike in Covid infections. Yet we are returning to the office. Back in August, when Texas was spiking everyone got sent home. Seems odd.

If you have not declared the other company you are working for then you are in violation of Oxy policy. You should be fired from Oxy for this.

Please, no RTW. For over a year now, I've been working for Oxy part of the time, then working for another company the rest of the time. Drawing two paychecks. Sweet!

If we avoided change how many of us would have experienced satisfying personal and professional growth throughout our life.

The week was draining, but I see the benefit of being in the office 3x per week. It's much better this time around because a lot more people returned than in June.

It’s not your age. Millennial parent here and this week was a shock. There was so much collaboration and innovation (read obligatory chatting) at the office and meeting transitions and stuff not working like it does at the house. By Thursday everything was falling apart. I had accomplished less than half of what I usually do and was trying to figure out how to catch up at work, and things were falling apart at home too. All the little daily work breaks spent keeping on top of things at the house were not happening.

You are not alone and it is not your age. The WFH has spoiled people all across the age and experience spectrums.

I am glad we are easing back into instead of straight up 9/80's in the office. I remember driving 3 hours a day total to get to and from Greenway. This week I was dragging after three days coming into the office, and I am sorry to say, but WFH spoiled me. I am so glad we get the Monday and Friday option at home because to be honest I would be miserable commuting every single day. It is amazing how used to WFH I got, and I am so happy I am on the end of my career, and hopefully can flush these commutes in a year or so. I don't care if it is Oxy or Exxon I for sure got spoiled, and the coming back into the office is a shock to the system. Maybe it is just my age and the WFH helped keep me rested a little more, but whatever it is I am feeling the pain now just after 3 days.

Work from home proponents are little people who are not concerned with the big picture. These people are not needed and should be terminated. There are plenty of good company people out there who would love to take their place.

Work from home is here to stay. Work from home is here to stay. If I say it enough it will happen!

I won’t lie. It’s good to be back. In Allison Tower at least. Things are calm, running smoothly and the Waterway is looking gorgeous. Not to mention free breakfast and a bag with PPE and sanitizing supplies. Y’all better stop complaining. No-one has it as good as we do.

Rush hour in Houston tonight was crazy compared to even a few weeks ago. Lots of people going back to the office Nov 1st. Oxy employees should be happy they don’t have to drive to and from work five days a week. Oxy employees get paid bunches of money and benefits for the trouble of only 3 days in the office every week. You can’t beat this. Better watch your complaining or you might be back to the pre-covid schedule soon, real soon.

One day everyone is going to figure out we are going to have to learn to live with Covid. It is going no where, so people will get Covid and get sick. I like working from home as well, but I would give it all up just to get back to normal. I will see everyone tomorrow. WFH today is nice because I stayed up late watching the Astros. Go Stros!!

Nice try. Get back to the office. You should be forced to wear a badge so that we know who all the little birches are.

Quit your crying and get back to work. We’ve been working non-stop in the field exposing ourselves to others and risk getting sick and taking it home to our families while you sit at home collecting a pay check from the money we’ve been out working for. You WFH people are the laziest bunch of sponges I’ve seen in my 45 years of working in this industry. Absolutely disgusting.
