If by "AI" they mean LLMs (chatbots), and it's intentionally not made clear, then they replace a real company with slop.
and when the unskilled and inept Band 8 employees in Kochi cannot fix things, will the stoopid IBM US executives look to blame AI for it's failure to learn fast enough ? or will their jobs also be at risk ? LOL !
AI is a small percentage of the reason for RTO. RTO is designed to get rid of higher paid employees in favor of employees in lower cost countries. Band 10 leaves in US and replaced by Band 8 in Kochi as an example. The ones they hire will be spun as AI skilled workers and the ones that left just couldn't re-skill. In the process though they are terminating people with institutional knowledge and breaking things not easily fixed. Executives have the perception it is ok to break things in favor of the bottom line because those that are left will figure out how to fix what broke.
