Head of HR leaves abrubtly

Obligatory email last week announcing head of HR was "leaving", a roundabout way of saying she was forced out or was invited to resign. Watch for more cuts coming soon - it's earning season - and announcements of job expansion in India. New CEO said himself India will benefit in sales, support and engineering. Maybe HR too.

She was utterly useless and sadly, they will be paying her for too long on top of already paying her too much.

The admin staff planning this office move have backgrounds in travel, transformation and testing. None of them understand the engineering functions of staff in CF. Our delivery group was world leading and we still have very experienced, highly skilled technical program/project/engineering managers based in CF but unfortunately Sea Salt wants to own this move and use his people…..what could possibly go wrong?

@nesh+1adIY7BZ "how are they supposed to commute if they need an office? Taxi anyone?". Agreed and they could always bring back the car allowance, everyone left should now be a high enough grade to be eligable. They were asked if we could rent a small bit of local office space in the meantime, but admin staff with laptops assume that is all engineers need and so can WFH easily, so thats not going to happen. Hope nothing is lost in the move, have heard people saying some bits of equipment have already gone AWOL, hope this is just people keeping them safe at home rather than ebaying them...

I hope you are right and we are not moving office. The only thing wrong with CF2 is the air conditioning but with all the kit being moved to the DC then that is no longer a problem. Fingers crossed we’re back in there before the end of this year when it’s all been rebranded and open planned (or newly refurbished as they keep promising us).
The message is far from simple due to the lack of transparency and continuous last minute office moves. If the rumours are true and this has all been a failed attempt to save some cash and stick two fingers up at Cisco then why not come clean and tell us instead of trying to wing it with no fixed plan, no discussion and no communication.
A large number of CF staff cycle/walk/bus to the office and possibly some don’t have a driving licence so how are they supposed to commute if they need an office? Taxi anyone?

You're not moving to an office. If you _need_ an office you can commute to one. I thought the message was pretty simple. I'm not defending the fact it's a mess BTW.

In a week or 2 we must move out of CF but how many people have actually been told which office they are moving to, Staines/Maidenhead/Data Centre? We’ve been told the Data Centre might be ready by end of May. That was a facilities guesstimate so more likely July. Obviously a few have benefited as they live on the Data Centre’s doorstep but for most of us we’re now facing what will likely become a 2.5 to 3 hour round trip commuting to Staines or Maidenhead. People first my arrrssse.

And remember the Covid-19 guidance from facilities…If you are based in Staines not enough of you are going into the office so get yourselves in there now but if you are based in CF then you must work from home from now on.….now jog on and stop complaining on Internet forums or you’ll end up like that person who chose the wrong coffee.

The censored comment about Sea Salt was true. From a UK perspective all the office moves and new data centre planning have been a perfect example of how not to do it. As the deleted comment said, Sea Salt blames others for his mistakes, mostly his predecessor, it was all the ex-CIO’s fault. He will probably blame ex-CIO for CF folk being homeless in 6 weeks. And probably taking credit for all the travel savings…Sea Salt has saved the company a fortune…and all from his tiny garage with its 56kb dial up connection.

Did anybody else hear what was said towards the end of the “We’ve messed up big time with Chandler’s Ford but we’re not going to admit it” UK meeting? The story about how our CIO managed to get rid of someone because they chose the wrong coffee! CIO laughed at this amusing story while his Finastra ma–a HR colleagues sat there straight faced thinking “shut up you clowns”. Such an ethical company to work for with all these anti bullying and harassment policies that senior staff don’t adhere to.

“Look at all my shiny cars. Hopefully they distract you from realising how incompetent I am. Doesn’t matter. I’m part of the finastra ma–a.”

Given the market landscape for IPOs of companies that never make a profit - I'd say Synamedia is just about ready?

Spot on. CIO needs to be next in the Finastra mafia to go. Chocolate teapot. Chandlers Ford and Lawrenceville building moves both a mess under his “leadership”. Sadly he’s protected by the CFO - another Finastra mafia member. Hopefully Paul wakes up to see the dog’s dinner they’ve made of the finance organisation and clears house before it’s too late.

Who is down-voting this post? The Finastra Mafia? This forum is the Single Source of Truth….not simply sour grapes. Internal Communications either have no idea of what is happening within the company or are just too busy giving each other Kudos and Hero awards for their charity work. Or flying thousands of miles touring Europe reviewing venues for the Management conference.
HR is truly awful. As a manager trying to recruit technical staff, HR is a complete waste of time. They have zero knowledge of the company’s business and no technical understanding but we are forced to use them for supply of candidates. They waste so much time that vacant positions are pulled before they can be filled.
Head of HR, along with other VPs, mandate all employees study the COBC equivalent to prove the company’s ethical approach to business. However, so many of them are guilty of recruiting their useless friends to work for them replacing respected and capable staff. How ethical is that? It stinks and this nepotism happens all over the company. VPs have no shame and no respect either.

HR is so bad that they’ll probably keep paying her for months without even noticing.
