GFS Faces Uncertain Future: Leadership Concerns, Talent Exodus, and Technological Stagnation Signal Potential Drop to $20

https://www.defenseworld.net/2025/03/01/globalfoundries-inc-nasdaqgfs-shares-sold-by-rhumbline-advisers.html

Over the past two years, GlobalFoundries Inc. (NASDAQ: GFS) has experienced a significant decline in its stock price. The all-time high closing price was $78.94 on March 25, 2022. As of February 28, 2025, the stock closed at $38.77, reflecting a substantial decrease from its peak.

The company's strategic decision to halt the development of sub-10nm process technologies has led to the loss of clients seeking advanced manufacturing capabilities. This shift has raised concerns about GlobalFoundries' ability to compete in a market that increasingly demands cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.

Recent leadership changes further contribute to uncertainty. The appointment of Tim Breen, who lacks a background in semiconductor technology, as the new CEO raises questions about the company's strategic direction. Breen's previous role was as a senior executive at Mubadala Investment Company, the largest stakeholder in GlobalFoundries.
Additionally, GlobalFoundries reported a net loss of $262 million for 2024, with a significant $935 million charge in the fourth quarter due to equipment replacement. This financial setback underscores challenges in maintaining profitability while attempting to modernize operations.
Given these factors, market sentiment is increasingly pessimistic. The combination of technological stagnation, leadership concerns, and financial losses suggests a high probability of the stock declining into the $20 range in the near future.

We are having the slow death spiral. It speeds up from time to time. But perpetually down to crash land. We are a joke. Our directors and vps and leaders while very confident and aloof in the halls of Malta are seen as jokes and clowns by everyone else in the industry. Just go to a conference and watch how they are treated and looked down upon. They are not respected even in the slightest. We are a sh-t company that likes to pretend we are legit

Our department cannot afford to fix equipment and the salary to keep the senior MTs who could. Clearly SLT knows the bigger picture cand knows none of this matters.

The fact free coffee/tea is what GF allocated for employee appreciation day let's you know what they think of you. If you haven't sent your resume and at the bare minimum updated your LinkedIn, then you're happy doing the minimum work and collecting a check.

Malta plant built more than 1 million wafers of 14/12nm finfet, attempted to make 7nm devices..
And, what is Gf making at Malta? 55nm or 40nm processes…
How can the equipment’s built for 14nm became outdated for 4-6 generation older process nodes?
Another financial engineering to hoodwink..and demotivate employees, rob tax payers and fat checks for execs…

GlobalFoundries concluded 2024 with a net loss of $262 million, a year anticipated to be challenging for the semiconductor industry. The company reported annual revenues of $6.75 billion. A significant factor in the fourth-quarter loss of $729 million was a $935 million accounting charge related to the replacement of outdated equipment at its Fab 8 facility in Malta, New York.

Despite these losses, GlobalFoundries is optimistic about 2025, forecasting modest revenue growth and improvements in key profitability metrics. CEO Tom Caulfield highlighted ongoing strategic initiatives at Fab 8, including the integration of essential chip technologies and collaborations with government entities. Notably, Caulfield is set to transition to the role of executive chairman in April, with current COO Tim Breen slated to become the new CEO.

Big fat lie : "Despite these losses, GlobalFoundries is optimistic about 2025 :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))"

Yes, bro! GF pivoted—but to what exactly? Failed special foundries? A failed automotive reliability foundry with all those Auto Grade 1 to infinity? Or maybe failed silicon photonics—considering two major players, NV and BR, taped out SiPh using GF tech back in 2020-2021? Was that another big fat lie?

And let's not forget GaN—despite acquiring new companies, failure is inevitable. Wake up, bro! This isn’t a company; it’s a gutted, hollow shell run by a cult of incompetent yes-men
