Thread regarding IBM layoffs

How is working IBM Consulting nowadays?

I worked in GBS long time ago and I wanted to see how is working IBM Consulting nowadays?

When I left (yes, RIF) I was so bitter I wanted to erase the episode completely. But my last project with IBM was pretty solid and I had a senior manager overseeing my work (SAP Financials - Interface Design) who was pretty awesme.

Anyhow, I was just wandering.

No, actually I was in IBM Consulting too long and suffered extremely. This is the most incompetent group at IBM.

Stay away, only misery there.

i would not go back to IBM even if it pays well and has good benefits simply because their RA strategy is not based on real low performance (Sales or delivery) or aligned with growth habits. its solely based on biased judgment and a-s licking politics even if you do your job well, meet all the numbers, never complained and are better in all regards than someone else on your team. its just you are a number on somebody spreadsheet high up and if never got much visibility with that person because of poor bad leadership (no skip, no proper alignment/support for your role) purely because of your manager you are mostly out when the pressure comes even if its only for 1-2 quarters . thats just all round nonsense RA strategy and destroying peoples careers

@dc don't you meant Indian leaders since Alvind moves all senior positions to incompetent Indians as part of the IBM "India Friends And Family" plan.

If you're good looking White chick aged 20 - 30 and no kids in the US, you're on the fast track to get to be Associate Partner or better in Consulting in a few years even if you know ZIP about the technicals of Cloud, Security, AI, Quantum or anything else. That's IBM Consulting for you. It's probably the same elsewhere in the industry too. Experience doesn't matter, just your looks. So much for Alvind's hypocrisy and whining about DEI measurements in hiring and retaining talent. Just a look at the Instagram that disappeared from this site says it all - it was an eye opener to the hypocrisy from IBM and Red Hat Leadership.

IBM is hiring these days based on age, s-x, race, skin color, location (if you are in India you are hired!). Younger, recent college grads are in demand. White guys over 40, ah no. I have seen 3 really good SAP related Consulting folks put out like and old shovel no longer needed. I would never ever go back to IBM and would not recommend them to anyone.
