Who cares if people are purple, orange, or green. Best people for then job. That’s win as a team. You don’t start some scrub at shortstop because you didn’t balance the lineup in a diverse way culturally. Your diversity comes from diverse experiences and diversity in thought. Assemble the right team based on your salary cap and play to win.

@pfr+1tCguGtp First off, DEI isn’t just about race. Second, Nike set a target linked to exec comp to achieve 35% representation of minorities at VP levels and above. It’s right there in OP’s article.

“By 2025, Nike said, it aims to achieve 50% representation of women in its global corporate workforce (which doesn't include retail store and warehouse workers), and 45% representation of women in leadership positions (VP level and above). It's targeting 35% representation of racial and ethnic minorities in its U.S. workforce by then, too.”

Nike WHQ is 80% white, ELT 95% white, but the rest 20% are why Nike is in current situation…yeah I get it.

The issue is that Nike linked executive compensation to achieving highly ambitious DEI goals, which led leaders to make decisions primarily to maximize their own pay. While diversity itself is not the problem, these incentives essentially created discriminatory quotas that undermined meritocracy. This approach resulted in the rapid promotion of underqualified individuals into key roles that make crucial decisions and set strategies for the company.

Why did this happen? It was largely a reaction to the social unrest triggered by George Floyd's mu---r. However, five years later, companies that adopted similar DEI goals are just now stepping back. Recently, Microsoft, Google, Zoom, and others have declared that such goals are no longer "business critical."

It wouldn’t be surprising if Nike followed this trend. Companies are primarily loyal to their bottom line, not social causes. The quality of leadership is crucial, as Nike and others are discovering.

DEI is sadly being used by clueless f-c*s in all walks of life as a scapegoat for everything. Nike’s problems are solely due to incompetence at the top. Elon Musk choosing to claim DEI is what caused CrowdStrike to cripple IT systems shows that even intelligent people can be crazy & misguided.

Lol... Once again hate on DEI from white people in Portland. JD and ELT pulled back our products from retail stores, those in power continue to hire based on spousal support and favoritism, big projects that cost millions of dollars are re directed by clueless ELT and here we are early Saturday morning to complain about DEI ! Nike WHQ is still 80 percent white
