I personally would without thinking.

@mio, You say that you’re not ready for retirement, so why is it you put in your EOI to leave? With only 10 years at a good paying job with excellent benefits, do you hate Chevron so much? It may be too late for you now, if you did submit your request, but to me that was a big mistake. If you are still needing or wanting to work, Chevron will be a better company after the layoffs are over. Many people who needed to go, will be gone. Things will start going very well again. By not having submitted the EOI, you had a chance to stay on. If not, and they let you go, you would still receive the severance package.
Early retirement in the past meant some are all of the following: adding years to age, adding years to employment (for calculation), a bonus for leaving.
I know many reservoir engineers, geologists and drillers working as consultants and many are struggling to find work. many with 20 to 30 years experience. Consulting rate 6 month ago were 1200 to 1600 per day. Now only $500 to $700/day. If you are lucky enough to find work.
I am retired and my consulting rate (Oil and Gas M&A, finance & negotiations) is still high ($2500 to 3000/day) , but my hours are down a bit. Luckily, I don't need the money. I do this because it is FUN. Things are starting to look up though as companies start to divest properties.
The numbers of EOI were surprisingly low for the pre-ROM filing and I expect they will be just as low when the hunger games begin. Too much uncertainty right now for many to happily head to pasture. It it going to be ugly folks.
So you don't know about the EOI? Then you are obviously not part of Chevron.
I’m not ready for retirement, I’ve been with Chevron for 10 years. But I’ve put in for the EOI.
I know I could find something with equal or better pay somewhere else. Give me my severance and I’ll go away...👍
What’s the difference between this and EOI?
I'm sure they could find enough people like that to avoid laying off people who want to stay.
