I opted this morning.

@3tmg, I was laid off in 2016 and received a 1 years pay for my severance. I applied for Texas UI benefits and was not denied. I received all 6 months of my benefits. There are two types of severances. The type in which your former company pays you periodically, does not qualify you for UI benefits right away. You can apply only after the periodic payments are exhausted. The type of severance which Chevron pays, is a lump sum severance payment. It’s paid all at once. This does not disqualify you from applying and starting your UI benefits immediately. I hope this helps dispel any rumors or false thoughts.

I am waiting for the next round and I'll see what happens. And no, I would follow all the rules for unemployment, you can apply but they will let you know if and when you are eligible. declare everything. They know. I know from experience.

Most companies put there best foot forward. Having said that, it will be the same now as later.

@mdk, I can absolutely guarantee you and everyone the value of the severance package given now, during this round of EOI petitions will be at least the same if there’s a second round announcement down the road. It won’t be less than the first, else Chevron will be sued and lose the fight.

I am going as well. If you are going, better leave now. Based on the number that leave now, the number will be less or more. Get the guarantee.

No way, I will wait. I have much more to lose and am not gaining anything by chickening out early as apposed to the later fall EOI.
