I'd take the 'Dinner with Darren' option.
I don't need the money.
For Apple it’s very easy to identify their top technical performers. If they get it wrong for 3-4 years and value PowerPoint jockeys higher than innovators, they will be left behind in the most dramatic and visible way.
EM rewards it’s top technical performers with a PIP.
Contact and complex engineers will get $100k paid out monthly in 2022 to train their KL replacements
@luy+1exAs9Qf I think that’s the point though, Apple isn’t giving everyone a raise, just high performers who they think may leave. So for them that’s ~5% of people. So that would fall into the “unless you are ranked very high” part of your statement. I know non HiPos are pi---d about their salary treatment, rightfully so. But almost all HiPos I know are pi---d too. We’re paid a little more than others here, but not nearly as much as we could make elsewhere. Not nearly as much as non-HiPos could make elsewhere :/
Also what is not highlighted is that these bonuses are vesting over 4 years. So most are getting a $25k/year bonus, with a max of $45k/year. Still would absolutely happily take it, but not AS big as the title indicates.
No bonuses, ever, period. Exxon does not give bonus/RSU unless you are ranked very high.
