Thread regarding VMware layoffs

VSphere and VSan

What is everyone’s opinion on vsphere and vsan? Do you think they are worthy enough for Broadcom to keep them as they are without a big cut? Or do you think part of R&D of these two orgs will also get cut?

In my humble opinion...SDDC is the main reason why BC wants VMW. They are gonna double down on SDDC.

Sadly SDDC was a thriving business before the pandamic but someone at the top ki---d it too fast and too early.

Let's see.

vSAN is a dumpster fire, and any revenue recognized with it is based on the price bundling shenanigans VMW is famous for. I see it getting scuttled or sold once Broadcom takes over.

Do you know anything about vsphere?

VSAN pulls in close to a billion revenue per "quarter" with around less than around 600 people in the group. What is there to trim?

I was told that roughly 50% of vmw’s profit is from vsphere alone with only 2k employees in the org. Isn’t that lean enough already lol?

i think they would keep them, just would cut the fat... and you already know... even without broadcom, both of them could do with a some fat trimming
