We are being told at Kmart we are “essential” workers, because we have Pantry and HBA departments. Yet, they are not replenishing the stores with the “essentials”. They are giving conference calls about getting sales, not asking if we are taking precautions within the stores. They send 4 bottles of cleaner, but no spray bottles to use with it , as it states on the directions. The stores are not getting cleaned or disinfected. There is no leadership from the top. The executives are home safe , as one had the nerve to say on the conference call in the Northeast. He stated he was getting “stir crazy” and didn’t want to wake his wife, yet you have us in the stores unprotected. While other companies are talking about some type of financial compensation for their employees, we are told we will not get points if we do not come in to work.

What qualifies as “essential” varies wildly from state to state it seems. Hardware, HBA, Grocery and Auto supplies all technically qualify as “essential” in some places.
Plenty of stores that barely qualify as essential and are out of the same grocery and such yet are open.
I don’t think it makes a difference what they have people are going to look at non essential stuff like Shoes and stuff as long as the store is open because they simply don’t care. Take care of yourself and be safe.
On the Sears side are there any other stores limiting what entrances you can use to get in the store?
If the kmart scientists can come up with a virus cure it would be great business.
This company is again, desperate, to make a dollar. Just like Gamestop, Sears/Kmart is on the edge of dying so they will grip at anything to keep themselves open. However in the long run it is not going to help them because they have no real product left in the first place and this will only make it worse.
Out of 60,000 square feet in our Kmart, our pantry and hba sections occupy less than 3,000 square feet, having many gaps and, in some places, completely bare shelves for months prior to the covid-19 crisis.
How does this even qualify us to stay open?
So if Sears is an essential Hardware Store, why is it closed in Pennsylvania, but not in New Jersey which has the same restrictions against nonessential business being open?
The aforesaid be closed. Most chains are right now or in the process of closing.
This Corona Virus is scary. At first I had thought the media was blowing this all out of portion, but now I'm very worried. I'm not so worried about my health, but I'm worried that I might infect my elderly parents. I can't quarantine from them, because they are fairly dependent upon me. Interacting with so many people at work everyday never phased me. Now I take my temperature every and wonder if one of our members has infected me.
Nice false post. There is no Northeast Market leader for Kmart. The DM is BD .... He has them all.
Move on.
Target just announced it will pay hourly employees $2 extra an hour now until May 2. Our Market Leader, for Kmart Northeast, just sent an email today authorizing associates to use surgical glove, if they want. Wow, way to be on top of this pandemic and help the stores...
Who would have thunk we would be considered an essential business that stays open simply because we sell dollar store food items for 74 cents. God bless canned sardines in mustard sauce for saving our store!!!
Our store in the Northeast hasn't had anything come from C&S since the first week of February. That's pantry, chemicals, some hba. We have a sign on the door no paper towels or toilet paper.
I would call OSHA on Kmart, they probably have many violations in every store due to lack of basic repairs, etc as they won’t spend a nickel to fix or clean 🧽 anything.
Call OSHA! It will result in large, warranted fines
Sounds like managers in NC. "if you don’t feel safe, then don’t come into work..."
If Eddie defies health authorities he can go to jail. Call your state health department, now!
@lif+145rVtDS Most of them are going to get some sort of check at least so it isn't like they are going to get fully screwed over. Others are working at home. I'm not really worried about the virus, just the stupid people really.
You’re getting paid while most retailers have closed and left their employees without paychecks until who knows... if you don’t feel safe, then don’t come into work...
Yup, same here. Pretty stupid but this company is desperate to make as much money to keep itself alive. But honestly this virus, all it is going to cause is to k–l this company off quicker and show its true weaknesses.
Again
LMFAO
Just call the department of health and notify them in your area of what your being subjected to. It will raise a big red flag and start having Sears an Kmart looked at for potential exposure and shut down by health Dept. Edward nobody will have no say in the manner. It's not up to him or any employees once health Dept makes the coronavirus call to shut down. Do it now!!!
