Super Duty Recall (not so super after all(

Note the “No Charge” comment to replace missing bolts. How generous of Ford.

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 pickups due to an issue with the steering column bolts.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the steering column upper shaft bolts may be missing or improperly tightened, resulting in possible separation of the steering column from the adjoining components.

The hazards: a disconnected steering column can result in a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this issue.

Affected vehicles: select 2023 Ford Super Duty pickups produced between January 4th, 2023, and January 23rd, 2023.

The fix: dealers will inspect and tighten the steering column upper shaft coupler bolts, or install any missing bolts, as necessary, free of charge.

As a customer, I’m personally thrilled to go to my dealer to assure I’m not ki-led or injured driving my $85,000 truck.

Never Ford again!

Did someone put those bolts as optional on the steering assembly illustrations with a non SC CC torque? Or did uaw just mess up royally?

How can you blame Farley for this? He's just started his tenure as CEO. His vision and leadership will correct these type of minor mishaps. Besides, the customers don't mind returning to the dealer for free parts

Cancel Ford. They will cancel you at a time of their chosing.

That was my TVM idea! I’m happy to see it was implemented. Do you know how much Ford spends for screws and bolts to attach stuff? Way to much…do you think money grows on trees, who needs that stuff anyways, it’s so 20th century.

Maybe bolts can be provided as part of an ongoing never-ending monthly subscription.

HOLD ON A SECOND. Jim and Doug said they delayed OKTB to get the quality right. I wonder if we could do an OTA update to fix this and collect the data to sell to Amazon to improve recommended items (like to purchase steering column bolts). Think of the BAJILLIONS OF DOLLARS we could make. Or we can monetize the ability to change vehicle direction through a monthly subscription service (call It Blue Steer). Let’s setup a Gemba. Hey Bill you wanna know what my favorite truck is? The kind that keeps that steering wheel connected to steering gear.
