Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike

I wonder how many of the people that will be laid off are 62 yrs of age or older and have worked for the company for 20yrs. Seems like nike doesn't want eldery people around.

Yes, Nike has undertones of ageism. I felt it when I worked there and particularly as I got older (I'm under 50). Nike caters to the younger demographic and therefore likes to keep their workforce younger. It's a shame because they're missing out on a market segment with the need (and deeper pockets) but I suppose they wouldn't want it to affect their image as as a company. Overall, it's reflective of our western society to toss away the old and show no value to the wisdom acquired over the years. Look at people like Ernestine Shepherd, Nike. She's a true inspiration.

Call it spade to spade - #AgeDiscrimination - anything else?

I wander if the state of Oregon has any requirements in terms of how things are reported from the age perspective. This is not just a Nike problem, age discrimination is rampant in the USA
