My thoughts deal will be green lighted but with conditions.. whether BC wants those conditions are another story. Either way I think this is a Q4 event... highly unlikely all these issues with governments are going to be sorted out in 6 months, Europeans are just lazy, they will take their own sweet time

Well if the next company is another behemoth like Broadcom then we can go on another 12 to 24 months of vacation!!!!

I cannot really see this deal going through. I read the UK's concerns depth and they seem to have some major concerns. And that is without really knowing what is going to happen with the FCC as well as other countries whom are also assessing this. In laymen's terms I think this is a case where BC's behaviour of the past is coming back to haunt them. Because what they do to companies is now predictably known and understood.

Only problem is that if it falls though VMW is still ham-strung by Dell and the billions he wants to extract from it. And with the falling stock value and the tech recession that potentially means some company even worse than BC might swoop in next.

Nope. My reply said in spite of the recent layoffs. As of February the unemployment rate for tech is 1.5% and that already factors the tens of thousands who were laid off. I know some who were impacted and were able to find jobs quickly. They expanded their search and did not limit it to exact same roles and all were in Sales and Operations. Can’t comment about IT and engineering roles though.

Did you miss the 1000s of layoffs recently ? Almost literally every big or small company kicks people to the curb and does exactly what Broadcom does - asks people back to the office.

The article definitely has merit. It references the Clayton Act. Also not a lawyer, but it seems broad enough to cover both vertical and horizontal merges. We just have to wait and see for the FTC to submit its findings. Were this to close, prepare for a longer timeframe. More time to take advantage of Take1 and brushing up on our skills. On the bright side, if we are to believe the reports, laid off tech workers are being reabsorbed back quickly into the workforce in less than 3 months and unemployment in the field is really low in spite of the recent layoffs.

Well the OP might have meant it as sarcasm since so many seem to be so dismissive or think they know everything?

Definitely a nothing burger. Article is rehashing the long shot of trying to make conglomerate effects the smoking g-n.
