Did you receive this additional payment instead of advance notice of layoff?
Did the payment cover a specific time period?
Was the payment given in exchange for a release of claim or as the result of a settlement agreement with the employer?

Thanks @kgkc Please keep us posted if State approves your claim or not.
The severance documents don’t itemize the lump sum, so no specific detail of equivalent wks’s worth is included.
I interpret this for the purpose of unemployment to mean “no, not received in lieu of notice”.
I don’t know yet if the State agrees with me.
Question to the original poster.
How did you answer this question? "Did the payment cover a specific time period?"
Typically a layoff notice/agreement mentions about equivalent number of weeks covered through the severance pay. And TWC has option for number of weeks/days or start-end dates. Which one did you opt for? Has your payment request been approved?
We got unemployment benefits if you got a severance package, as to get the severance package, we had to sign a document that stated we would not sue Noble or join a class action lawsuit for EEOC claims. Having to sign in order to get the severance allowed us to get unemployment from TWC.
you got the payment as part of a company severance policy. Period. As the previous poster said, report it for the period you receive it. Good luck. Wear a mask.
Report it in full when you get it paid. You won’t get any severance for that period but you will get it after. Good luck and on to greener pastures my friend
