Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Sleepless in Bedfont

Bracing myself for the infamous consultation emails. After the stress of waiting for the LR news, now another wait of 4-6 weeks while those poison penned, often grammatically challenged emails start pouring in. I wish they’d just do what they do in the US : just fire us and get it over with. Save us the additional stress.

Oh well, “Change is the only constant “ and “best place to work” . Hallelujah!

Last layoff round it took a month before we were told colleagues were being made redundant (end of March, work in the UK). Looking forward to a month of anxiety.

@kfc+1u0ttuUi I feel you. I don’t come to this site any more. Just came here since I heard about the news.

I also always wanted to work for Cisco and was exhilarated when I finally got the opportunity. Worked with enormous energy way beyond the call of duty. I truly believed that I was adding value to the company. But like you , the LR culture every six months, those emails that’d last for weeks put a damper on things. And eventually my new manager’s strange comments made me realise that at my grade I won’t last long no matter what I did. So I regretfully left before suffering the ignominy of being shown the door.

I did not want to leave . I loved and still love that company and some of the best experiences of my professional life was there. I loved being on that campus . But hey, people usually resign their management, not the company.

All the best to everyone at Bedfont Lakes and elsewhere. Chin up. Stiff upper lips. And don’t forget there is a Cisco alumni group on FB with many Cisconians offering help, guidance and referrals if needed. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/LL23KiBrdPaWMvec/?mibextid=K35XfP

I feel it is endless...even we survive this time...I have already planned to find a new job somewhere next year (getting a new ccie bonus, ccie recert bonus before I leave), hopefull I still have the time to prepare lol. I joined cisco 2 years ago, it used to be my dream company but now I am feeling extremly tired because of the endless LRs and company restructures..

Monday and Friday are very quiet, the other days vary considerably..

I would say the mood in Bedfont will be somewhat sombre given the LRs - but it's 95% empty these days anyway.
