Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

If so unhappy, leave. You’re not helping anyone

Times are tough, sad reality. If you’re unhappy with anything in your life… do t put up with it. So much negativity on a company that pays us well with good benefits. If you are unhappy, make a change… quit. Would you want to be on a team with people that don’t want to be there, or complain about everything? Nope… find something new that will make you happy.

@1haf+1o9kg6kj - You're being intentionally obtuse. I didn't say that any business specifically owes me anything, what I did say that is that the first thing I think of when a company culture becomes toxic is how to AVOID quitting. If your first instinct whenever you are disappointed in leadership is to jump ship then I cannot imagine you have worked very long in your life. Either that, or you are the most simpering toadie I have ever heard of. My remark with unions was that we as a workplace don't have one, so obviously anonymous message boards are the only means by which associates can even express their displeasure outside of possibly threatening their jobs by being honest of their critique.

People are going to make their woes known. You are on a website devoted to anonymous discussion of the negative aspects of a job and complaining that people are complaining. You chose to enter a topic specifically about that and then continue complaining. Take your own advice and quit coming here.

To @pif+1o9kg6kj - seems like you have worked at Schwab too long - they don't owe you anything except the salary they have been paying you. There will never be a union at Schwab - and I don't think leadership will be changed - people posting here are not in the upper echelon so why even mention that. Hopefully you get your payoff and are forced to move ON!

Original OP @OP+1o9kg6kj I agree with you totally = all the negativity that is being generated on this board is harming all of those posting - it won't create a change in Schwab just continue to make you/them miserable. Move on - if that is what is needed - life is short and you never know when your number is called. It is a job - there are many out there but it takes effort to move on

To OP and any other associate who is voicing these sorts of opinions, I ask a simple question: Do you value your career? Have you ever been in a relationship in your life? When you are unhappy with a component of it, do you seek to change those things, or do you simply end them right when they appear? Many of us have been working at Schwab for years. These problems are the result of tainted, incompetent, nepotistic leadership, and while it has left many of us miserable it hasn't changed the company that we love and the values it (hitherto) stands for.

The fact of the matter is the workers at Schwab are not unionized. We do not have any form of collective bargaining. The only way in which we can communicate about our grievances is anonymously on a board such as this. Why would you visit a site like "thelayoff.com" and realistically expect the people gathering here to not be generally voicing their discontent with leadership decisions? If your issue is with the notion of complaining at all, then I don't know what to tell you. If no one ever voiced discontent, no changes would ever be made in any bad decision. It seems to me that if you don't like it, you should take your own advice and ignore it, and continue on with your career in the way you think is best.

You're wrong @OP+1o9kg6kj

If the company ignores employee feedback then sites like this are how to help people

Leaving without fixing anything is what doesnt help anyone

So yes i do want to be on a team where everybody sees what's wrong, where their unhappy when leadership outright lies to employees and refuse to make improvements or even acknowledge our complaints & where those teammates do what they can to make things better

Posting on sites like this & making employee complaints publicly known is one of the ways low-level employees can ensure their voices are actually heard, instead of buried in some Glint survey that's ignored

Yes, that's what all of the books on leadership say, tell them to get on board or GTFO. Thank you OP for saving everyone valuable time.

Who sent you here? Walt? Katie? Rick? My entire team is miserable from the reps to the manager to the director to the MD. The majority of colleagues I speak to are not happy with all this horrible communication and flip flopping, lying, speaking to us like we lack intelligence. If how we feel bothers you then die mad. We are allowed to express how we feel and our feelings and valid. Not everyone has the ability to just leave.

Also good luck with your great benefits. TD employees will all be eligible for sabbatical at the same time. You really think Schwab is going to manage that or just do away with sabbaticals all together? Considering their recent behavior I think the writing is on the wall. Hope you enjoy your last sabbys.

OP- if so unhappy, leave this forum . YOU’re not helping anyone bossing people around here.

Would anyone want to be on a team with people that complain about others posting on a public forum? Nope! there, fixed for ya.

Unlike CS, people should be able to speak freely without fear of retaliation here.

Don’t quit, make them pay you. Schwab will cheat you as much as they can, you might as well get something from you. TDA employees got screwed and it was BS when they said no one would make less working for the schwabbers! Damn right green is pi---d. Luckily i got out for a lot better gig.
