Now comes down to making 18A competitive vs. TSMC or the Intel ship sinks like the Titanic.

Tsmc got their na euv machime about a year after intel.
And now they will leapfrog intel again, while intel will be stuck for years trying to make it work, as always.

The vast majority of all semiconductor products produced are manufactured with older process technologies. Intel's obsession with becoming number one again is what really keeps it from being competitive. Intel should be working to fill current factories with lower end foundry work just to learn how to better meet customer needs in foundry. Even if 18A is viable I doubt many companies will move from TSMC. TSMC will have similar process technology soon after Intel releases 18A. What TSMC delivers is quality, reliability, on time, with good customer experience. Intel doesn't have a reputation for any of those attributes. Intel would takes 15 years to catch up to TSMC. This is about how long Intel has been working on foundry so far and look at the progress it has made.
