So which of you get to drive to downtown Detroit?

🤣

Ford moves Model e, software teams into Michigan Central Station

Su-kers. Enjoy your commute, the crime, and the city income tax.

If you mean DF, you could not be more wrong. Subscription services and data sales drive profits with very little overhead as was primarily with legacy automotive products.

You joke about increased screen time but the fact of the matter is, that is sanctuary for today's customer's. Capitalizing on that is a focused strategy. That's why people on this forum are not a Ford VP.

Bunny Slippers is a low info engineer and even worse VP.
Where did he get the idea we are a software services company?
Self-driving EV Pods so I can “enjoy “ more screen time does not excite anyone for your product.
More surprising is Bill Ford Jr. is a non-entity at the company that carries his namesake.

"...therefore why having Ford facilities on the west coast is logical for the company and Model e in part."

Trying to turn a 120 yo car company into a software company...pie..in...the sky. Try selling sub-30k cars and not blaming the consumer for making you NOT sell the thing they never stopped wanting in the 1st place.

Tone Deaf.

@6dqc+1uT9bZq7 can you tell me what DF has actually done? Inquiring minds want to know??? I looked at his LINKED resume and the first red flag was this guy does not stay anywhere very long. Just because he can work a remote on a big screen tv does not make him a technical expert.
in looking at his former employers the guy averaged 36 months at any particular job. That does not make us feel confident he is in charge of PD... Next thing you will tell us is DF is the second coming of Bob Lutz.. Bad enough you have a CEO that makes comments about boring cars.. He is senior is is responsible for those boring products.. if the company last ten years without a bailout I will be surprised

DF has the means to visit Michigan Central Station or Dearborn whenever the need arises. New young talent is in a different situation, therefore why having Ford facilities on the west coast is logical for the company and Model e in part.

Now let's be honest, the building is nice and the offices look great. Much better than the basement of building 1.

It is better to use MC than spending $$$ in California to have parallel hierarchies. DF should come to work in MI as well as all his cronies. There is plenty of office space in Dearborn and Detroit owned by FMC, there is no need to build another PDC in Laguna Beach Cal. What a way to waste $$$, if kids do not like to live in Mi because they went to school in Cal or Fl or Il, etc. whatever, it is ridiculous to cater to kids who do not know what real automotive engineering is.
In the same token, all satellite engineering offices in England, Germany, Turkey, Australia, India, etc. should close. No need to have redundant engineering operations. NA is where FMC makes $$$, then keep the local talent. By having operations overseas does not mean that those countries will buy more FMC products

Says the person who DIDN'T get their rear driver window shot out at Michigan and Lonyo. Shucks, if only I was driving a 1/2 second slower I could be all inclusive.

Hope ya don't blow a flat leaving the Train Wreck. Nothing better than getting stranded in Detroit, after dark, by yourself! Word to the wise...get a CW, and pack some heat, guaranteed, you're going to need it!

Tip I learned from working in the city, do not lock your car doors and keep nothing in your car. Then the punks who smash windows to ransack your car will open the door and not bust your windows.

What's next? Move back to the Ren Center? I hear the current owner is offering great lease deals on the top floors....anyone want office space in an early 80s office building? Formerly owned by Ford? Let's get back to our roots!

So much fear mongering on here, per usual. I used to work downtown and loved it! You get city income taxes back when you file for taxes. I wish I would be in the MCS.

Counterpoint to the negative replies here: This is a brilliant move by leadership for Ford to optimize company property assets, improve collaboration in the most important organizations in the company, increase technology footprint in Detroit, and improve employee morale with being able to work in this historic building. Win win several times over.

Such a joke. Just so Ford can cash in on tax rebates while they force their employees to drive to that $sithole, and take a way cut a-la Detroit city tax.

Have fun paying Detroit income tax and finding safe, secure parking.
Also, don’t walk around the neighborhood after dark.

Just goes to show how few tenants are interested in the building. Otherwise Ford would just rent out the entire thing!
