My MD just put a 15-minute appt on my calendar in about two hours. He's never done anything like that. This is it.

OP, any updates? How did the meeting with you MD go? Please post info when you can. I know this can be hard day.
He just wanted to remind me to get my mandatory training done. Sorry for scaring everyone.

I was OP back in 2019 that originally made the joke about Les Schwab. It's a classic. It was funny then, it is funny now. It will be funny after this round of layoffs, and wait... wait for it.... it will be funny on the next layoff. Years to come :)
@thm+1p0kc4Se Sorry to hear that you need to work several other low wage jobs on top of trolling on this forum just to make the ends meet.
@jpx+1p0kc4Se It was funny when someone made the joke back in 2019. As for whoever is spamming this cr-p now, let's just hope that they don't attempt a career in standup once they get sacked.
You are all so high strung. Is this like your ONLY job or something???
Several hundred thousand in a 401K if not impressive. $1M then lets talk. $1.5M is impressive. Whether you're in your late 30s or early 40s.
@rfe+1p0kc4Se what do you get out of starting fake threads on an anonymous forum anyway? I sorta get the OP in the move your money thread. He has several hundred thousand dollars in his account which is legit impressive, so I get his desire to show off. What are you trying to show off here? That you act like an eight year old?
@miu+1p0kc4Se Hit a never did we? LOL
@bkd+1p0kc4Se Cool that settles it. Fu-k off.
OP here. Sorry.... it was my mistake. The MD that scheduled an appointment, was for a medical appointment. MD here is medical doctor. Ooops.
@oqv+1p0kc4Se It might be a case of incompetence rather than malice. Let’s do the layoff in September… but wait, half of the HR leadership is gone and we can’t carry forward with it.
I'm jealous!
@oqv+1p0kc4Se valid points. Its kind of like them announcing RTO saying its happening in october until real estate let them know that there was (literally) not enough seats so they moved it. this is telling of things to come, than the re-org and the RTO will be just as bad, if not worse. i think im gonna try and burn up my sick days in the coming weeks
So OP are you laid off yet?
Walt said that severance cost is a drop in the bucket. I doubt they’d cause so much additional damage to morale, culture and frankly to our reputation (recall the CNBC assessment a couple of weeks ago) with this absurdly long notice period in hopes some folks quit before severance. I have to believe there is a lot more going on - bigger than planned layoffs coming, major panic around passing the baton from Walt to Rick, major reorgs, realization the last TG wasn’t stellar and we have another coming…The impact on us likely isn’t a material point of consideration for the EC and BCG. Damage is done.
@wcp+1p0kc4Se trying to get those numbers up... its just a game of layoff chicken at this point. EE's are aiming to time their departure to see if they are effected to get that severance and Schwab is trying to force their hand to leave so they dont need to pay them out. Schwab's probably thinking it can outlast people with a job offer in hand that have a committed start date somewhere else. All we can do is assume due to the lack of clarity around the layoffs, timeline, # effected.... literally everything because leadership doesnt know its own a$$ from a hole in the ground.
@akb+1p0kc4Se Most of those are lower level workers though. Very few managers and above have left voluntarily. Some exceptions have happened in HR and DS but they are exceptions rather than the rule.
@bjo+1p0kc4Se all the dates that "make sense" are either past or approaching quickly. however nothing they are doing really makes sense anymore. They wait longer, a lot of disgruntled employees will be taking the engagement survey. If they dont do it this week, they're going to have to tap dance around it on the earnings call AND the call corporate update meeting. Do it after open enrollment closes, thats just more paperwork/process to deal with on the back end.
If they push it, they probably are doing so to see more voluntary attrition like others have said. Regardless of when it happens and why, it is being handled in a very poor way. I really REALLY hope it is this week
Let's get real. First, the Les Schwab posts need to stop. It was really funny the first time, it was still funny after 20 times. But after 100 times it's a bit long in the tooth.
I wonder if we are now looking at after November 6th. It does not seem wise to cut people three weeks before a TG (which next week would be). Teams take a little time to adjust after layoff plus there will be a dip in morale. And you might cut a key person by mistake.
The announcement
The communication on this site is a lot like the communication from Schwab leadership.
Unclear and usually total BS. It’s really sad we all are coming here looking for answers and even then they’re almost identical to the answers we get from leadership
@jfn+1p0kc4Se It could even be one troll posting about being laid off and then anonymously calling himself a liar in the same post... The anonymity is nice until stuff like this.
Facts: Dennis Howard
9/25/2023 - 13641
10/9/2023 - 13321
Mostly contractors dropping off. 26 less employees.
I really don’t know what pleasure people derive by posting fake news here. There are no layoffs this week.
@kws+1p0kc4Se Funny thing is we don’t know. At the rate things are going we can have people getting legit layoffs and they’d be dismissed as trolls when they post here.
Who the OP or the people sh*t posting comments ?
These are company planted trolls assigned with spreading disinformation on this site so we will no longer congregate here.
Today and tomorrow at least. It will take a couple days at least with the numbers they're talking.
Good night, sweet prince. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Might be by department/business unit. Keep your ears and eyes open, see if anyone else gets one of these meetings
@grv+1p0kc4Se If that’s the case please keep us posted OP.
If you are trolling though do kindly fu-k yourself.
Sharing from another post. I know this is accurate from experience.

OP lies
Yea a lot of tech companies have done it on Monday’s with everyone being remote.
Please update post meeting
Don't smile because it's over, cry because it happened.
And layoffs do happen on Mondays
Believe me - they don't explain all that - they just say your position is eliminated and that you will receive an email with instructions and information. Their job is done once they get thru the struggle of telling you your jobs is gone - and that you can basically leave your desk at that moment as nothing else is required
Bullsh-t
