Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Just got the axe

Just got ambushed into "the call" this morning under pretext of a different subject. Laid off after many years at PW of exemplary performance ratings. Doesn't matter what I was doing, I was just a number in the end.

Is this the last round for salary I wonder. I guess hourly is next! Let's hope they offer package for those who wants to leave.

I was also my employment is terminated effective 10/13 and to stop working immediately. As of the 10/15 period, I'm off the payroll.

@1dzi+17pBpyIb here

As far as the severance, they didn't go into detail and said additional information would be included in a FedEx package, but they did tell me it would include up to 1 year of the ESP and 4 weeks for every year you worked.

What annoys me is that I was technically 9 days shy of my 3rd year at P&W, so I may only get 2 years worth of severance.

I didn't even get the courtesy of a Zoom meeting. I also got ambushed with an unscheduled phone call at 9am with our director and executive director (not sure if HR was there) and was given the 5 minute scripted spiel.

The number came up in my phone as "Pratt & Whitney" with a Hartford area code.

I worked for Militsey Aftermarket Services in OKC but was based out of the CEC.

@uhc+17pBpyIb they already got rid of most yellow badges. The ones that are remaining are mostly contractually obligated (DXC/Axon/DBDS/TekSystems for DT support or projects that are still in the middle of execution for example). Also there was a lot of engineering "scut" (P1/P2) work outsourced to places like Cyient or Aerotek. Do you know how much a P4 BB actually costs RTX? The last time I checked for budgeting purposes in 2019 it was over $150/hr, so it's not like Yellows are a waste of money if you can get a similar head for below that especially if in areas like IT where PW pays low anyway.

For those wanting more detail, here it is. The invite is a 15 minute zoom meeting from your boss. Title of meeting not obvious. Nobody else will be invited in the meeting notice, but boss’ boss is also present on the call. Everything is scripted, and Details Of severance package are vague, referring employee to information package that will be sent to employees residence. Termination effective immediately following zoom meeting. This is not fake. Very real.

What should be happening is the laying off of ALL yellow badges - get rid of them in their entirety because so many are either not worth it, have fake, mock-up jobs or otherwise do the job that a lazy-a– PW manager or employee should be doing. The yellow badges just waste PW’s $$. There is no reason why any work should be done by contractors or outsourced personnel. Companies like PW should hire direct, regardless of the success or not of the job climate. Being paid perhaps somewhat less for certain blue badge positions is much better than being considered a Yellow Loser, not respected properly and held in disregard by quite frankly, “too big for their britches” PW managers and colleagues.

I understand the skepticism, there has been a LOT of misinformation here for the past few weeks by people who just get off on antagonizing others.

That being said, we can all see open-source information now that this is really happening now. Good luck to all.

for everybody claiming this is fake news, here is the text of Maureen Waterston's email to managers: https://imgur.com/a/SI2NWkZ

It’s not BS. I am also having a last minute staff meeting to address the layoffs. Know of one person who got cut today and they don’t want to talk about it yet. Most people need time to drink and cry before letting you strangers know about their severance packages..

People getting laid off, all years of experience and departments. Severance is 4

Know if multiple people laid off today in EH, both commercial and military. Groups are having last minute meetings to discuss the layoffs.

Fair enough. Just think people should err on the side of caution when replying to someone who very possibly could have lost their job today.

If this is legit, please feel free to tell us more about the details (how long do you have to still work? what are the details of the package?) Otherwise, I agree with the poster below me that this sounds a bit synthesized and fake.

I dunno, this sounds super melodramatic. I'm skeptical of how genuine this is. But then again, nobody has any way to verify anything that gets posted on this site.
