Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Why do we need 30k employees?

Unless this is the only time Lowe's can attract good employees and is jumping at the opportunity, considering that everybody already knows our reputation when it comes to treating employees by now and is avoiding us in normal times.

Nowhere did I sign in my contract that I must work through a pandemic or lose my job, I am a minimum wage associate not a salaried employee, why is russian roulette being played with my life, I am being forced to work or loose my job, not to mention my store hasn’t changed anything to limit the spread of covid-19, if Home Depot can operate by offering 2 wks paid for ft and pt associates off anytime no questions asked then so can Lowes, I see many lawsuits and approved unemployment for walking away.

Wait... Increase? Lord you have not been paying attention, have you? This thing is exponential and even if it's totally unchecked it won't peak till July. Pandemics tend to k–l people, and while the public may be a little slow to catch on, once they do it's not good for business.

I’m working 12 hour days to keep the store open.

What are you, then? Hours like that, you definitely aren't hourly. So you're a manager then. Unless you're really new you're also paid a hell of a lot more than those hourly associates you're spitting on here. Maybe let those in need get what they need to survive and spare us your bootstraps lecture.

Maybe Lowe’s has adjusted the expectations for spring hiring?

In the past we were told we needed 26 seasonal employees, we generally hired about 20, by the end of a month only about 12 remained, at the end of two months (or less) we were down to about 8 split between cashiers and OSLG.

As for the bonuses I think that only those associates working in the stores should get them, not those at home in the two, now four, week paid time off. The paid time off is their bonus; I’m working 12 hour days to keep the store open.
