Be prepared now

Make sure you have a copy of Citis Handbook which has all pertinent phone numbers as well as severance info that citi has to abide by since it is in writing. Also make sure you have your HR person’s phone number and email and their managers and their managers manager info as well in case you have to complain about anything regarding after u r laid off. I had to copy my HR’s manager numerous times when I wasn’t getting a response after I was laid off when I had a few questions

This is extremely important. If u r in ny do not sign severance agreement until the last minute, even if it looks OK A few years ago New York enacted a law that if you get severance check before 30 days of your last day of work (this is after the 60 or 90 day warn notice) then you can’t get unemployment for a certain period of time. In ny any dismissal/severance pay you receive within 30 days of your last day of employment, whether as a lump sum or in payments made to you over a period of time, may affect your benefits under UI reform. I know it’s a lot of people that got screwed out of unemployment because they signed their severance agreement too soon. You won’t have to worry about this if you get the severance check after 30 days of your last day of employment which includes warn notice

Start thinking like you are going to get laid off and be prepared now. Make sure any documents are safe to your home email Good luck.

Post ID: @jha+1pFtOkaq I could be wrong but it seems like this means that’s the least you can get for severance meaning if you’ve only been here a few years that is what you will get at a minimum so for example if you’ve only been here two years instead of getting four weeks you’ll get whatever page 7 says depending on your salary. Everyone else should be two weeks for every year up to one years salary.

Post ID: @1fkp+1pFtOkaq a lot of people get intimidated do not sign anything immediately I think if you are under 50 you have three weeks to sign but still your last day of work is after the warn notice they can’t give it to you now because technically you’re an employee until the last day of warN if they try any cr-p, tell them you’ll have your lawyer look it over

My severance documents were mailed out much later after I was laid off your last day of work is after the warn notice if they try to make you sign something now question it because technically your last day of work is after the warn notice you r still on the payroll until then and will still get benefits, etc.

PLEASE CLARIFY

If HR gives severance notice say 2 months. Do we have the option to say I will sign after a month or at the end of WARN period ? Will they give that option or will they force you to take it or forfeit immediately?

Having a bit of trouble deciphering which would be applicable for NAM Separation Pay.

On pg 7 of the NAM Separation Pay, it indicates Minimum Separation Pay Amount by Annual Base Pay (up to 50k = 4 wks base pay; 50-100k=8 wks base; 100k+ =12 weeks max). I thought they calculated termination pay by 2 weeks per every year of service (+WARN if applicable)?

Anyone have any insight on this?

Post ID: @rqt+1pFtOkaq hi can someone help this person out? I tried looking through my old files but I can’t find the handbook I may have thrown it out since I don’t work at Citi anymore. If it’s not in the handbook, it should be somewhere if you go onto the HR website and look around it has to be in writing somewhere for US employees where it says two weeks for every year up to one year severance at the most. This is just US employees. Don’t know what other countries get.

I pulled up the handbook, but didn't see anything specific to severance pay under the end of employment section. Do you have any info that you can share or even a page number? Thanks.
