Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Last one there please turn out the lights...

I'm sure this isn't unique to our store. People quitting EVERY DAY. No service desk staff, no head cashiers, almost no department coverage, good morale is a distant memory, managers giving up and leaving or wanting to leave, district manager ignoring this like it's business as usual, promising that help is on the way and knowing that this is just a lie. Nobody can come help from other stores because they are in the same awful position, and senior leadership ABSOULTELY knowing exactly what's happening and CHOOSING to let the company run like this. This company is heading off a cliff, and nobody cares. It's sad to see a once great company destroy itself because of their total unwillingness to properly staff stores, train associates or do ANYTHING to attract and retain actual talent. So glad I'm not a shareholder. What a mess.

I remember when our store manager (a male) would unload the RDC truck by himself, when receiving was short staffed or called out. He spent an Entire Sunday shift in the truck. That hasn’t happened in years. I guess that was his male privilege. The female manager has rarely touched a piece of freight.

Is it me or does anyone else notice the more minorities and women we get in upper management the worse things get? Is this a true result from hiring based on race/s-x versus the best person for the job?? Time to have a serious discussion.

My store has one cashier per area; lumber, front, customer service, garden. Good luck getting a lunch or potty break. The other day they had one of the pro associates on register so the daylight lumber cashier could get lunch. If anyone calls off on the front end they pull coverage from the floor. The paint guy paged “can someone please help the customer at the paint desk, I’m on the register.” And he was, with a line because no one wants to use the self checkout.

That mervin he’s a retail genius.

The sad thing is Lowes had so much potential. It's the death star running on weak batteries now. And next time african prince shows up, everybody punch out for lunch.

You mean the Old Simpson place? Haha well we have been telling them time and time again they will never grow anything there. Even funnier is some guy named Marvin thinks he can grow tomatoes there

Good to read you've joined the cast of The Simpsons.

Our district manager doesn't even say hello to associates. She acts like nobody is there. Tone deaf...

Former Lowes employee here. I was working as a flooring specialist for 14/hr, and everything OP described is true. I eventually quit and found a position with a company called Sneed’s Feed and Seed (Formerly Chuck’s). I have full insurance benefits, 401k, 160 hours of vacation, maternity leave (even though I am childless and unmarried) and every Friday is “casual Friday” where we get to wear essentially whatever we want. I suggest all Lowes employees look into Sneeds. The CEO of Sneeds personally shook my hand at a visit and thanked me. Never would Marvin rise to the level of Sneeds.
